*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G Thread***

Well work popped up with a 15% off Samsung products which was also compatible with the current cashback deal so I traded my OP8 (-£500) + Work discount made it just over £1k cash.
Loving it so far, bought a Spigen case but much prefer the skin look so have just skinned mine...

I know it was a worry thats good then

i also worried about people having something in their pocket end up in the fold and make an impression on the screen but i guess it closes fairly tightly so that cant easily happen ?
I mean the gap is their on purpose, so it's not impossible that some could worm its way in there. I don't bother with cases just skins and looks as good as day one.

Makes a good difference with the inner screen protector off. Mine was starting to bubble in the middle so just took the whole thing off and it looks much nicer. The vibrancy of the screen especially. Still loving mine and no real issues. I did read about the z fold 3 rumours that both screen are going to be smaller. The front screen especially. If they do that then there's no way I'd change as I think the screen sizes are great as they are. If anything I'd like the outer screen even larger.

You got it for a great price. I like to keep it simple too, just a matt skin (extremeskins) and use a back cover when I'm out. Still got all my original screen protectors on and will not be using it without a screen protector, I hate when the oleophobic coating wears away.

Just purchased one from the Samsung site with 15% off and a Apple iPhone XR 64gb trade in! Anybody recommend a good cover ?
Thanks

I got the Spigen Thin Fit, it seems good but much prefer a skin and as I dont work in any form of dirty and harsh spaces its fine for me.

Anybody else's internal screen protector started to lift? I'd push it back down with my thumb everyday but it just pops backup..any advice?

any one seen that xiaomi phone with the screen which wraps all the way round ?

it looks cool but im trying to figure out what the point is

something like these folding ones makes way more sense ha ha

Im guessing it's mostly price related - a single screen device is, I assume, going to be cheaper to make and by folding that way they negate the need for a separate screen and perhaps reduce the bulk of something like the fold 2 (which is a monster tbf).

With Samsung foldables still being marketed (and perceived) as very high end, whoever gets one to market for less than £1k at launch price (which Xiaomi have said they intend to) can draw in everyone who's intrigued by them but can't / won't spend nearly £1500 - £2000.

In practical terms, I think the selling point of this type of foldable is the ability to have a smaller screen to use the device as you would a regular phone, with the option to extend to a small tablet and Xiaomi appears to tick those boxes. As long as the screen is durable (and that's a big "if") then I can see the appeal, especially if the two hinges can be used individually to allow for two stages of extension (totally gimmicky but it would set them apart from other brands).

perhaps but its a big curved screen that goes around the whole device so you have to physically turn it around and then the other side is still all screen, presumably it is all touch sensitive too im just confused by it.

the folding one at least makes sense ha :)

I've just noticed mine is doing the same thing in the same spot - tempted to just take it off but are there any long term drawbacks to not having a screen protector on? I mean aside from the increased risk of scratching obviously.

Apparently its fine to remove but I'm not going to for now. I'll just keep sticking my thumb over it every morning.
Also had my first proper bug yesterday...gBoard kept crashing (force stop) but only when using the outer screen, on the inner it was fine. Had to remove and re-install it which seem to have worked.
