*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G Thread***

Would someone mind posting some images displaying Microsoft (Outlook, Teams ideally) and perhaps other popular apps on both the outer and inner screens please? I can't seem to find any sort of app showcase online and I'm interested to know how well Microsoft as a partner has integrated their apps to the unusual aspect ratio's.

Thanks in advance

How's this? I don't generally do Microsoft if I can help it... Inner screen first followed by outer screen (if that's not obvious!).

I'm still too chicken to take the main screen protector off but my curiosity is growing...

I did get a "thin fit" spigen case though. It's not bad but there's no getting around the fact that cases make the phone bigger and it adds about 1mm to every dimension - my only real complaint is that the inner edges of both parts of the case could do with being chamfered - they're surprisingly angular and make the phone somewhat uncomfortable to hold when it's closed.
The edge on the bottom between the chassis and the back glass if a very hard "sharp" edge on mine.

Sorry if this has been done in the last 20 pages but how does this phone manage (or do your think it would manage) with a young child getting hold of it?

For example how strongly does it oppose to being folded the wrong way? Is the inside screen as tough (resisting jabbing fingers or being dropped) as a normal smartphone screen, my first assumption would be no seeing as it folds in the middle?

Zero chance would I let a child on it.

That’s what I’m thinking. My 4 year old autistic son can be a bit heavy handed and he does love watching kids shows on my current phone! Not only is it possible he might not understand to not try and fold it the wrong way but also he has a tendency to discard things he’s done with!

The hinge is surprisingly durable, Jerryrigeverything tried bending it the wrong way, it was surprisingly strong and didn't break.

See from 8.22 onwards. I still wouldn't give it to a child because the screen is still more fragile than a non-folding phone.

very interesting! He really went to town on it! Yeah the screen unfortunately seems very easy to scratch so even though the hinge might survive being bent and snapped about and the outside will take some knocks from being dropped, I just can’t see the inner screen surviving little jabby fingers!

SoB, my Fold tried to commit suicide by sliding off a shelf onto a concrete floor. Luckily it landed on the hinge which took the brunt of it but it's ever so slightly stuff to open up now.

Ouch :(

I don't put my phone on smooth surfaces, as it has a tendency to slide. Also keeping your phone in shallow pocket is major no no.

Nice, looks like a nice usable screen, how many pop up windows could you comfortably fit on there, I'll often do split screen with web/mail, media and whats app on my note but its a bit tight, looks like this could accommodate a 4 way split quit nicely.

How are people finding full screen 16:9 content now you have been living with it for a while, does it zoom content well, I find my note 10 a bit annoying due to it not being 16:9 as it leaves black bars but when I zoom it cuts critical info like the side bar info on F1 for example, any such quirks here due to its aspect ratio where if you zoom to full screen you loose too much of the source and you are better off living with black bars, looks like it might not be bad rotated.

Just had my portable screen die on me so have been using my phone screen more as main screen and am thinking I need a bit more and am doing the man maths justification on the Fold right now, should a deal come in the next few days, I might cave :D

I am doing about 8hrs screen on use, I guess the big screen won't fair so well, not too much of an issue I can power it in most places just interested for the fringe cases.

I tend to have a web browser open in one half of the screen and on the other half i'll either have youtube and twitter in each quarter or i'll use youtube as a pop up window overlaying something else. It's nice being able to split the screen vertically or horizontally to suit the particular apps i'm using.

Video use varies by app though: the netflix app is a bit of a hodge-podge which clearly hasn't been made for a niche product like this one - so whlle you can have a pop out window with it, its a bit clunky to get going. There's also no getting around the fact that widescreen video just doesn't suit a nearly square screen so you get BIIIIG bars on the top and bottom. Most of the video apps I've tried so far (which is basically just youtube and netflix lol) insist on rotating the video to go full screen. Clearly on this form factor it's a little pointless (again, since it's almost square) and it's a bit irritating.

Battery-wise, I'm using the external screen waaaaaaay more than I thought I would so battery life has been great. I easily get to the end of the day on 50-60% with moderate use. If I use the main screen for extended periods this maybe drops to 30-40% but it's been surprisingly good. It charges REALLY quickly too with the supplied charger.

I'm pretty paranoid with my phones though at the same time I don't bother with a protective case. I find it a bit puzzling how many people wonder why their phones don't last 2 months yet regularly leave them sticking off the edge of a high counter top or in places they are likely to get sat on, etc. to me they are just so obviously places and situations you don't leave a phone.
