*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Thread (it can fold and everything) ***

Got mine yesterday first foldable phone pretty impressed tbh along with £100 Samsung voucher in the box. :)

Nothing like a fresh new box to open with its contents!
:)
I just don't enjoy 'standard sized' phones now, I'm
sure you'll feel the same mate!

Well I put an order in for the 4 too, after my s22u order debacle I was hesitant and was going to wait until it was in shops, but they say it will despatch tomorrow.

Let's hope this finally gets me off my Note 10+ 5G , almost an upgrade in all areas.

It took me a couple of days to get use to the narrow screen on mine, I've set it up in a similar way to an iPhone which makes it easier to use, and the main screen as I would any Android phone.

I've also got use to typing on the narrow screen aswell.

Once you adjust this phone it becomes so much better to use.

Is that a change from today because pre-order deals ended on the 25th?

In a fit of madness I now also have a flip 4 on the way, stacking up all the discounts it actually became a reasonably priced phone, nice little upgrade for my daughters Xiaomi Mi9, lets hope these are actually good phones.

I'm gonna get a bad reaction for this, but sorry, £1700 for a mobile phone is utterly bonkers!

Sky want £2600 for it over a 2 year contract

I don't think you'll get a bad reaction, it is a bit bonkers particulalry with limited storage options, really this should come with microSD if they want to have SKUs with less than 512Gb at that price, its supposed to be a multitasking/productivity device yet they give it no storage.....

It is no doubt why they have pumped the trade ins and offers, still not cheap after all that, the Flip was a little better I ended up with 56% off. The fold deal not so good and the quidco did not track...which is annoying as it was a £50 bonus.

You are right, it's very pricey. Samsung has been front-loading its retail prices like crazy. Then offsetting them by offering £250 trade bonuses and 10% discount codes. It's the same with their S22 Ultras.

I got £500 off the price without doing much and they also gave me £500 worth of extras (£100 Samsung and Google vouchers, case, pen, charger, and Galaxy Buds2 Pro). Granted some of these extras should have come with the phone. But overall I spent about the same as buying an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Boo, no £100 vouchers in my box. :(

The fold is a lot smaller than I expected, I guess as I have my Note 10+ in a chunky case this feels quite small folded considering, and 6.2 really seems a lot less than 6.8, that extra bit makes a hell of a difference :D

Contact support, heard some people were missing their voucher and they got emailed a code.

I'll give it a bash.

Initial impression, I'm not sure I am going to get on with it, watching F1 I think the Note 10 + is bigger and Zoom cuts too much details.....Doh! I'll give it a week, I'd imagined it'd be more like my external screen that I do Dex on but Square aspect is a bit wrong in big screen and little screen is not a good ratio either. I'll see how I get on with the rest of the stuff.

Unfortunately, the screen is not ideal for video because of the square aspect ratio you get large top and bottom letterboxing. My S22U shows larger videos than the Fold because it's taller.

Yup Note 10+ has the same screen as the S22U, I'll give it some time, need a bigger fold device, 2x 6,8" screens would do or perhaps they need to hurry up with an actual Z folding phone. Looking at how slim the Chinese competition is getting this can't be far off of being a possibility.

Actually the interior screen is a bit bigger than the 6.8 in height, it's the missing width which was an issue on F1 as I lost all the position data with a zoom, shame you can't have zoom in steps on Youtube.

The phone is soo fast, never felt the Note 10+ was slow, hence using it for 3 yrs but this is noticeably slicker and the Audio is far superior too.

Well I've sold my S22 Ultra so no going back now, got more for it than Samsung was offering trade in for the Fold 4 so I'm happy.

I do think it's better to have a backup phone with the Fold 4, 3 ect, i have a Redmi Note 10 Pro that i use for work only cost me £129 & tbh for the price it's brilliant after you get rid of all the ads and guff that comes with it, as there are places i wouldn't want take my Fold 4 with me.

Also when the S23 Ultra comes around next year I bet a few people that bought the Fold 4 as their first foldable phone, will either sell it on or trade it in because they can't get on with it for one reason or another.

I myself love this Fold 4 & got it setup brilliantly now.

They are way more durable than you would think, I take mine to work without issue and I am a Mechanical Engineer around oil, grease etc all day long and 30ft in the air servicing cranes.
