Samsung i7500 (Android)

The main thing seems to be that when you first get your phone, charge it often to keep it "topped up" and that performance should improve over the 1st couple of weeks - don't let it discharge fully during this period, as that's bad for the battery.

The problem is I run it down every other day, v annoying.

Hmm fully charged last night, woke up to 50% battery. Its the widgets i think

BTW you shouldnt totally run down Li-ion batteries, its bad for them. Every time you charge them tho, they do loose a charge cycle, so its best to charge them from about 20% if at all possible.

cool i'll do that. I'm considering rooting it so that I can create a swap file and use nandroid backup.

EDIT: just had the baseband freak out, dropping into no reception and dropping my calls :(

EDIT2: it happens if Wifi is left on during a call and a sync is attempted.

Just had a look at one of these in a O2 shop and its a really nice size screen. Not as long as my Omnia but its wider (which I prefer).

Looking forward to grabbing one of these when it comes out.

and rooted :)

EDIT: hmm there's no swapon/swapoff commands on the galaxy
EDIT2: had to install busybox manually
EDIT3: busybox cant use a file as a swapfile, so you need to create a new partition. Not really worth the effort right now i think.

Hang on they had a demo one in store? Like a working demo or a dummy?

Unfortunately it was a dummy, but it gave me a good idea of the screen size, feel of the phone.

I really want to see a working version so I can get a feel for the os.

Is it fair to say that the Android os is as slick as the iPhones?

yep! the only thing is if you go crazy with widgets it will slow down...

but then again, the iphone doesnt have any widgets :P

(just installed co piliot live 8... very nice, i might buy it)

Couple of questions from a potential buyer...

1) When buying from Germany, does the box include an English manual too or just a German one?
2) How does warranty work in the case of buying from Germany. Let's say the device develops a fault, would I have to go through the German shop that I used or would it be sent to some Samsung centre (I would assume they would have one in the UK)?

I'm sure I had one more but I can't remember now...

Strange that there's no reviews yet from any of the bigger websites that usually do them. I'm being pushed towards getting a new phone, but the total lack of reviews is making me a bit unsure...

Thanks in advance.
