I'm currently running 4 Samsung harddrives, 2 x 250GB, 500GB and a 750GB. The two 250GB's are well over a year old and not a single problem with any of them.
No more problems with samsungs than any other makes, infact in my experience samsungs and WD are the two best, highest failures out of about 500 drives ive fitted are seagate.
Seagate is the best make of Hard disks at the moment when it comes to reliability in my case, but I've never had a problem with my Hitachi IDE 250GB or a Samsung 30GB either... I was also under the impression that Samsung Hard Disks were also very reliable and that it was the Samsung optical drives that were unreliable.
I still have a Samsung 8gb drive in perfect order from like 8+ years ago. I brought a 500gb model late last year & it is developing problems so an RMA on the cards. It is complete pot luck really.
Everyone going on about the maxtor bad batch few years back & I still have a 120gb diamondmax in perfect working order in my comp. Just pot luck as I said.
