These have faster writes than the M4, that's about it. Read speed is pretty much the same.

At this rate I'll have to pick up a 256GB SSD in a couple of months for my Steam drive, should be nice and cheap by then

Tempted to buy one but am being skeptic about its Controller SandForce SF-2281. I remember it had issues in the past so am not sure whether Sandisk managed to fix it with a firmware update... Any news on that one?

Lol.. I know what you mean and yes.. small company compared to Sandisk! + Its Async NAND.. cheap nasty NAND compared to sync... it would need to be £70 to make it worth it over this.

Im not saying what you should buy but you know what makes sense
