Sandisk memory cards - a LOT of fakes out there

From experience with dealing with full companies, is it surely not the requirement of the seller to arrange for the goods to be returned? If this is true, why is everyone offering to post it back? I would be tempted to request the buyer gives a full refund then arranges collection of the fake item (which won't happen, giving you a spare card).

I was told by the maggot I was dealing with that HE would pay for the return of the card and refund me in full..

I sent the card back the next morning only to come home and find an email he had sent late the night before telling me to keep the card... It was too late it was in the post..

These people should not be selling (so-called) branded CF cards on the auction site at half the price of the real thing. FAKES...

Cripes they would sell hundreds if they had no label at all but trying to con people into thinking they are super fast genuine Sandisk cards is just wrong..

I was conned once but take heed I won't be foiled again.. ;)

i bought a 4 gig card off ebay, £43, arrived today , and it looked good, packaging ok etc.

Was only slightly slower than my origional 4gb one,and the capacity was ok to, but decided to look into it.

I have emailed the seller to see what hes going to do, i should be ok, payed with paypal etc. Judging by paypal they allways go with the buyer in disputes.

His feedback was private to, i suppose i suspected something, 98% odd positive, but i bet people leave that when they put it in there camera and it works ok.

My real one on left, dodgy one on right. The speed difference was tiny though.

Ahah! A bit of a clue there ;)

Yes but cheapest online is £79.99, they tend to go for £50-60 on the bay.

Its really not bad for £43, still no reply from the seller.

Shall i do a paypal dispute now :D

BUMP TO THE TOP!!!

I have 2 Sandisk cards, both Ultra II's. One is 1gb, the other 2gb.

I bought the 1gb through the place that is named after the big rainforest, for about £25 inc. del. a few months back.

Today I received the 2gb from an eBay seller in Hong Kong. It cost £22 inc. del.

They look identical, apart from the pic of the recycling bin:

Both cards are the same as the genuine card pics floating about, although not sure about the bin on the 2gb card

I will ring Sandisk tomorrow to confirm their authenticity.

one of my 1 gig card looks like your 2 gig card, and my other 1 gig card looks like your 1 gig card. Bought mine from Morgan off here and that same giant site you got yours from. except mine is extreme III, the prints on it is bold and accurate, checks out against the guide to spot them too, just the back sticker are different.

I'm pretty dubious about those cheap cards from the rainforest, they seem to good to be true!

I bought two last week...FAKE!

In the process of trying to get them to give me a refund. If I dont see my money soon then im off to burn the place down.

(Gord - I've got a spare balaclava if you want to settle a score? :p )

Whats the difference between the SanDisk Extreme III Compact Flash card 2gb and another card which is 2gb and 133x.

They are both 2gb and 133x - are they both fine to buy ? Obviously the 2nd is most appropriate because of price, (half price).

Thanks

Edited competitor - Sorry guys! (Spies the mod :( )

Sandisk test the extreme series in extreme conditions. i doubt the other manufacturer do this.

I bought this from a popular high street shop, its a 2gb SanDisk Extreme III
I also bought a 1gb online from a good, non rainforest online shop and its identical, apart from the serial number which is numericaly different (a good thing)

Hope this helps
