This is music to my ears!

SB owner, not impressed with his motherboard, and even more so for the 'ignored' complaint I submitted after my RMA was refused.

Refund please and won't be buying from *cough* ever again :D
 
i love my new sb set up its more about what i've got on my hard drive and the point i need to use them all . not just two ports . i could pull out dvd drive but would still need 4 ports .what do i do risk my hard drive's failing untill they sort board out or set up old rig :(

What board have you got? I know the pro has 2 Marvell 6Gb/s and 2 Intel 6Gb/s, which are safe to use (I'm presuming the Marvell ones are ok based on what people have said). I'd still get it changed when the replacement program kicks in.
 
Update: Jimmy sent us a chat log with an Intel customer service representative indicating that this recall only affects "some desktop boards based on Intel P67 chipset," that the H67 chipset boards appear to not be affected, but that the company doesn't have a comprehensive list yet. We've certainly seen cases where CSRs don't have all the info in this sort of situation, but still we'd advise waiting a bit before tearing your new mobo out and bringing it back to the store.

That's odd, Ocuk states 4 Sata 6Gb/s on their site excluding the 2x eSatas :confused:

Just had a look at the specs elsewhere and you're right, there is only 2 sata 6Gb/s on the board, but I'm not sure if you can use the back panel eSata 6Gb/s.
 
Looks to me like Intel's watered down admission of the chipsets architectural failure. There must be something more serious than sata ports degradation within 3 years for all affected mobo's, which, for me, doesn't necessitate a recall in these magnitude ($300M -700M).

These picture clearly indicates that current leakage problem in any area could very well affect other areas as well, if not, the whole setup.



The "Good News" hopefully,

I maintain that the best gesture of goodwill on Intel’s part would be to enable motherboard manufacturers to replace P67/H67 motherboards with Z68 boards for those users who want them.

Crap, plug all your most important HDDs in 0 and 1.

HDD's wont fail but you'll get degraded performance and maybe no access later on. (can just swap SATA channels then).

Let's hope we can all get our boards replaced soon. This is not good news for anyone, Intel, motherboard sellers, OEMs and most of all the end user. Intel seems to be doing the right thing though.
