Technically, you have a period of 6 years after the date of purchase within which to report a fault
not true, common misconception based on the fact that a judge once said that six years was a reasonable expected lifespan for a washing machine or cooker or some similar home appliance during one of the rare occurences of a SOGA case going to court.

There is no legal precedent for PC components but I think that Trading Standards would back you up to two years and maybe up to three so please speak to your local trading standards officer for expert advice if you are very concerned.

The six month reverse burden of proof time limit does not apply in this case as the manufacturer have already admitted that the fault was present at the time of purchase.

Foxconn should have done something for their customers but they probably felt that the cost wasnt worth the benefit, something which you sometimes have to live with if you buy products from smaller market share brands.

Ultimate responsibility lies with the reseller but the reseller are under no obligation to exchange the board immediately if the board has not begun to show symptoms, they can wait for Foxconn to give them official instructions.

Thanks for that. I haven't heard anything all day, but I've had the confirmation email. The address will be handy if I don't hear back from Asus. (Got withdrawal symptoms already!) :P
 
Hi, Anyone have any idea how long OC are taking to get replacement Asus P8P67 boards currently?
They got mine on the 22nd but it still shows that they are awaiting a replacement from manufacturer. Trying to get a feel will it be weeks or days?
