SAPPHIRE 5870 VAPOR X, SAPPHIRE 5850 & SAPPHIRE DISPLAY PORT ADAPTER

so take it all 5870 vapor x that get shipped now are rev 2 with power conectors on the side of card instead of at the end i may just go for refrence design

I think you will find that this is incorrect - the new revision 2 has the connectors on the end - at least mine has and it is rev 2 afaik(the blue pcb).

This was one thing I was dissapointed with on my card as I would have preffered the connectors on the side which would have suited my setup better. So rev 1 would have been better in this regard.

i was wrong just looked at review they are at the end of card and rev 1 is at the sides, rev 2 suits me better should fit in my haf 932 case hopefully
so apart from it runner hotter is their any major diffrences between the two versions is it still worth buying over referance designs

Thanks for confirming I have not gone mad and got it wrong Lol. I would say it is still worth buying over the reference card as it still runs cooler than the stock card and I think probably quieter - but only marginally quieter as stock cooler are pretty good. I would say it depends at the end of the day whether you feel the extra dosh is worth it for you. I think mine is great and is the best card I have ever had - can't see me changing for a long while.

yeah had a 4890 2gb vapor x and that ran pretty well thats what swaded me towards getting a vapor x as they run cooler just have to wait till they come into stock again

Do you have an estimated date for the next batch Mr Fatboy?

Think it's time to retire my trusty GTX!

One more issu with the ati cards is the noise level is very high. i have a xfx hd-4870 and it makes noile like earthquake how many decibles i dunno but it makes vary creepy feeling :P

The 5xxx cards are reportedly much quieter. I never had a 4xxx but my 5870 is MUCH quieter than my old 8800GTS 512mb. :D

i have a fairly noisy fanfilled box

i cant hear the vapor-x fan @60% full speed...it gets pretty high pitched/noisy above 60%, in my opinion.

i didnt do my research very well, a bit disappointed about the lack of over voltage, but then again...i may very well have fried the card...ill be happy with whatever oc it gives me on stock volts
