Sapphire AMD Deals

How do you receive the code? I had it in the basket with a GPU but got nothing through for it.

EDIT: Nevermind, found the code but the stupid "verification tool" now refuses to connect to it's server and install

EDIT again: Doesn't work with windows firewall enabled!

Really? I had mine enabled and it worked fine.

Had issue with verification tool not working something about can't verify system hardware when trying the code, opened ticket with AMD and got it sorted

Now waiting for steam key

Smashed out a score for my RX 7600, however im finding it weird how fan control works in Adrenalin. I set the Max Fan speed to 50% but it seems to ignore it and go above that. Same if i plot a fan speed graph, it will ignore it and do whatever it wants.

I tried an undervolt but while running 3Dmark Time Spy, it was still pulling close to 200w! Is there something im doing wrong here, not familiar with Adrenalin software so its all new to me.

Im surprised how quiet the 7600 cooler is though. Can't even hear it outside the case at full load. I've never seen a GPU that silent.

I did some more testing this morning, i've figured it out. I have fan whine on one of the fans! GAHHH!

I haven't used a aircooled card for such a long time, i just assumed it was fairly normal. I stopped one fan at a time with my finger and 1 definitely whines where as the other sounds whisper quiet.

Set Power limiter in the options to your target of -10% etc. lowering voltage doesn’t reduce the power allocation, it just gives the core clocks more room to grow at the same power target.

This is why a mild undervolt in many cases results in better performance. You are telling the core to use less mV out of the power budget. But this means the GPU core clocks can increase because there’s more power budget available.

So think of the power limiter (can’t remember the exact name) of a way to tell the GPU to use more, or less power.

For example on my 7900 XT I can set 1050mV, power limit to + 15% and VRAM to 2750. This results in an increase in overall watts used by about 40w despite the reduced mV. It also gives about 11% better performance which is nice.

Setting 1050mV with core clocks stock and VRAM at 2750 and all other settings stock, gives about 5%more performance for the same watts as stock.

Setting -10% lower power limit reduces watts by about 30w and gives about 5% less performance than stock.

I hope this helps you understand how the latest AMD GPU undervolting and overclocking works.

Yeah that makes sense, i messed around with it some more last night and i think i found a sweet spot for it however i've now figured i think i have fan whine which is super annoying. From all the reviews i've checked, none of those ones has this whine or sound and its meant to be a super quiet card.

If you check my video above, does yours sound like that? Cos one of my fans makes this horrendous whirring sound that doesn't go away.

Is this Fan whine? Cos its bloody annoying.

Sounds like a bit of bearing noise, yeah. I've certainly had cards in the past where one fan made noise and the other didn't. Sometimes it only happens in a certain RPM range, so you can avoid it sitting there with a custom fan curve that essentially bypasses the offending spot (personally I've always used Afterburner for that, rather than AMD's software). It's a pity the Pulse doesn't have the quick-swap fans like the Nitro+ or it'd be a really easy fix if they'd send you a fan. Personally, I'd return it for a replacement if it happens at any RPM, as odd noises like that do drive me nuts.

I've tried at different rpm's and its all the same, infact the faster i go the louder it gets. I've opened a support ticket with the video to see what they say, im a little tempted to pick up a 6700xt now instead as the RX 7600 is now out of stock :o, just my luck!

Even more annoyingly, i saw the restocked 6700xt going for £300 yesterday and now its gone up to £320

Dodgy fan it seems. High likelihood of failure in near future. RMA or return.
