SAPPHIRE RX 480 NITRO NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (WORLD FIRST) !!!

Still no clear information on clocks for this? Looking at it none of the aftermarket cards have any confirmed clock speeds yet.

Shame.
A few were apparently confirmed at a Korean event the other day.

PowerColor Devil series will have 1367mhz factory OC
HIS Roaring series will have 1342mhz factory OC
XFX Black series will have 1328mhz factory OC
There was no information about Sapphire Nitro factory OC

Headroom for user overclocking is of course the most important thing. If the PowerColor Devil card can ship at 1367MHz, you'd think 1400MHz+ would be a given, since it's unlikely that they're going to be really riding the line and risking mass RMAs.

Devil looks like a beast.......so tempted by that one; long as it OCs to 1400+ I'd be happy with that.....

last two power color cards OC like monsters; 7870LE went from 1000 - 1200 honestly if I'd changed the cooler on it; it would clocked higher; heat held it back from going higher....

and my 290 from 1040 to 1200 *can do more but really don't need to* pretty much left it at 1040 as its fast enough......

honestly i prefer the design of the nitro, but ultimately i want something cool and quiet as i don't have a windowed case.

If they are all priced similarly (within say £20 of each other) then this is going to be a tough choice (though i'm keeping my nitro pre-order for now).

I'm asking them to switch my order to the Devil, not because of stock clocks and I'm still a little uneasy about the length of the card, but ultimately I can't see it not running cooler and quieter at any given clock speed.

For all I know I'll change it back and end up way down the list. So frustrating that press shots focus on the dumb shrouds and stupid lights, I want to compare the heatsink. The only concern I have with a custom card is it's cooling capacity in which I would rate noise and heatsink size/design/efficiency.

The differing fan sizes and the different pcb width(I think, but can't tell, if the Nitro is wider) make the actual width of the heatsink very hard to judge. I suspect the Nitro heatsink is narrower, shorter and a lot of the air from the seemingly bigger fans won't even pass over the heatsink. Honestly if you're going to cheap out a little on the heatsink rather than leave space on the outside of the heatsink where it would get most airflow, leave a gap in the middle, so have more fins on the outside and none that would pass under the centre of the fan.

Only thing I think I prefer from the Sapphire is removable fans.

Its quite funny that everyone hated it when it was silver and now everyone loves it. All theyve done is paint the metal black.

...they didn't show the back in the original silver pic. The back is what everyone loves.

I'll keep repeating this next time someone recycles this witty observation.

The Devil looks like it was designed by an angsty 14 year old.

Apologies in advance.. but i couldn't help thinking of this:
