Sat NAv

£185 delivered for the 920t is a very good deal, 720t is around 175 and its a refurb, so I'd get the 920t, oh and from what I remember refurb doesn't have map guarantee thingy so no freebie upgrade...so get the the 920t

With the prices listed above you'd be crazy not to go for the 920T. That's a lot for the money and if you're serious about joining the quarterly map update scheme you will pay more than the difference between the two devices to get the latest map necessary to join the scheme (Due to the lack of LMG with the refurb).

Having said that depending who the refurb is with you MAY get a a free map... It wont be done using the LMG but you'll get a "Map voucher". This depends who the refurb was done by... I believe if the store bought the refurb from TomTom it'll come with the voucher, otherwise not. It is very difficult to tell where the store sourced it from so the only way to find out is ask.

Certainly, I've not checked in a while, but the prices above are accurate I would go for the 920T without a doubt, and even more so if the 720T doesn't come with a map voucher.

Cool, that's the cheapest I could find it for, just noticed a few people saying that it could be had for £100, guess that ship has sailed though!

Think I'll order myself one for christmas!

Finally.... placed my order for the TomTom Go 920t - got it for £185 delivered thanks to a handy link from "hiroofheroes".

Are there any must have or useful accessories people can think of?

A subscription to PocketGPSWorld if you don't have one already.

I'd also grab an SD card if you don't have one kicking around so that you can play mp3's on the device (Which pause/resume automatically with voice instructions).

I also purchased the accessory pack where you get a home charger and a case for the device but that ended up costing £20.00 so a bit steep if I'm honest (Considering exactly what it is).

The only thing to make sure you do is do the software update before you use your latest map guarantee.

Can anyone confirm whether the GO920 can take an 8gb SDHC card, I'm reading that it struggles to read anything above 4gb properly.

OK.... bit of a problem, hoping someone catches this and can post a quick reply.

TomTom Go 920t arrived today. Out of the box working great. First thing I did was hook it up to PC to run update. In short, update fails and corrupts the OS. I didn't backup and now can't backup because Windows Explorer wants to format the drive.

Anyway searching around this Internet this isn't uncommon at all. Since Home doesn't recognise my device anymore it was suggested I put in an SD card and run update. This got me up and running again. I have 8.3 running off the SD card but, after switching on it says no maps found.

So.... question is, everything that was on the hard drive can I get back via downloads? I assume I can get all the maps back through the latest map guarantee now i'm on 8.3... is that correct? Also, are there any other apps on there? Can I get them all back?

I'll be phoning TomTom in the morning. I'm not best please to be honest.

Its the process I have to go through that worries me. Will the latest map Guarantee give me All the maps I had (UK, EU and US)?

I guess once everything is on the SD card, I format hard drive and copy everything over?

Edit: When I run latest map guarantee it only lists EU and US not UK. Is UK covered in the EU map?

From what I remember yes it is but I'd call tomtom tomorrow just to make sure before it blows itself to bits again

i saw an add on tv for halford doing 50% of all satnav, key word being all.

when in fact they have 50% off 7 sat nav, non being the more popular makes there only on the navigon(i think) sat navs.

can i go into the store and demand 50% of any satnav like it says in the add and even on the main page of their site?
