So hopefully thats a 150GB (approx) platter using Perpendicular Recording so it will hold more Data and be far Faster and I would hope for 32MB Cache.
SATA300 Slackworth, you know fine there aint any SATA2 HDD's
Hmm where did the 2.5" come from ?.
The sites do not have stock of above cable, some are selling from £7-£14 though when avail.
32MB Cache is expected but don't be surprised if WD change the spec at the last minute.
Very true but most people understand it as SATA-II so easier to generalize.
2.5" is coming partly from the Enterprise market and the ever increasing notebook sales. SAS controllers allow you to use a standard SATA drive. When you're in an enterprise environment having a 2.5" drive means you can have more GB of space than you could from a 3.5" drive in the same amount of physical space. If you look at fel.fujitsu.com, you will see they have a complete range of 2.5" drives for SAS use.
The notebook market is now huge compared to what it used to be so it is another way to gain some market share in an area where WD are still playing catchup.
They're all feeding off the same supplier on a virtual feed hence why they have no stock.
