Save it for the black stuff... OcUK Manchester Meet 3

Good work on the sat nav images, really looking forward to this meet should be fantastic.

Little concerned about the quantity of rovers turning up, swerving around sheep is one thing but having to contend with broken down rovers blocking the road!

I'd be more worried at the quality of the rovers, not the quantity :p

It's ok though, we will lose at least one at the M62 Birch Services (probably altenator failure), most likely lose one at the first pub, and if previous meets are anything to go by, we will have to leave one at the second pub! :p

Guys, I was just thinking... should we warn everyone of the police presence as they leave the services? ;) I can see it on those photos.

Guys, you won't have to worry about Rovers breaking. One of them has had a recent head gasket change, and the other is a Turbo, so it'll get so far in front of you lot before it breaks :p

El, I wouldn't say that about an alternator failure though. I was under the bonnet yesterday changing the CTS (yey) and I think my alternator bearings are squealing

You've got a good memory Goliath :)

It was the old car that I had to replace the alternator on. That was actually the first mechanical job I did on the car.... behind Powerpak Auto Electric :D

I'd only bought the thing 3 months before I crashed the car, so I ripped it off and have had it in the house ever since.

Might switch them at some point if the squealing gets worse. I recently had a full belt change and the new belt probably put too much pressure on the already worn bearings.

I've got a new founded hatred for Rovers, went car shopping last weekend and decided to sit in a TF, i kid you not it had the clocks out of a metro in it, they look alright on the outside but getting in one was like stepping into a cabin made in the 80's, horrid horrid car.

He already has a girls car, can't blame him for wanting to upgrade to 'senior hairdresser' :p

Mark, need to talk to you about camera positioning for the meet. I've got a plan :)

You sat in a TF!!!! What were you thinking? :p

Well i was on a key grabbing mission from the woman at FOW so i sat in 3 MX-5's / Some Tf's (Don't want one!) VX220 / Evo / CTR's / Leons / Audi TT Conv / and many others.

No good LCR's btw El.

You wanna post on ere bout your cam idea Andy or MSN it sometime?

Here's fine :)

Right, on the first run I was thinking I'd set off from the 1st pub before every one to position myself just on the brow of the hill before the long downhill straight.

There's a section just before that straight where I can park the car so it's out of the way and with me standing on top of the brow, I'll be able to capture people coming up and passing me. Should get some rather nice grin inducing footage that way.

Then, on the 2nd run, you go ahead and wait at dead mans junction, getting people coming out of the junction and blasting off down the straight. I can then set up at the photo-shoot spot and capture several cars (including yours) coming into view.

How does that sound?

Sounds good, i want to do several runs with my camera mounted on the bodywork of the car, low down pointing fowards and angled just off the road wheel, really going to turn this into a great MM3 video.

Only thing i'm thinking is mounting the camera on the roof or side door pointing backwards and watching some ppl fly past on the straight.

Need mike or someone with a stupidly quick car to do some shooting, who else is taking a camera and will be shooting in car footage?

I think Goliath has a camera and was talking about in-car footage...

The wheel idea sounds excellent! They're always good shots. Just watch it doesn't fall off

He's saying that, but really, Andy just wants a head-start, he won't film anything ;):p

LMAO, I knew that was coming.

Can I have a head start from the services :p

I might actually hang back and get some footage of people on their way from the services to the first pub. Those first roads are pretty good.

Again, hang back AND get footage of other people? If you'd have held back between the services and the pub on Saturday i'd have been waiting hours for you in the carpark!

Don't hang back, nail your nail! :p ;)

:D Exactly how long were you waiting? It was quite shocking though... the first time it happened at the first meet, I thought I had broken something.

I'm hoping to lose some weight before this meet. Can o' tyre weld and lose the rear seats. See how well it copes.

Think i'm going to do one spirited lap ;)

Then spend the rest of the time getting some video together / meeting up at the normal spots, i'm thinking :

In car forwards facing from the services to the first pub (On my cross ;) )

External front wheel / road for the rest of that lap.

Switch to some shooting of eveyone coming into the meeting points from a long run.

Second lap, camera on side of car facing backwards on the long straight watching everyone overtaking.

Then i will do some front facing roof shots for a half lap.

Rest to be sorted with Andy really ;)

What cam you using mate?

How do you plan to mount the camera to get the wheel shots Mark?

Could be interesting.

No idea yet. Thinking something Panasonic. Get paid on the 10th, so it'll be a whim purchase really. You recommend anything?
