Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

The last one on 2/2 was 200MW required, which produced 157 / 161.

I agree, on the price. It paid up to a max £2.50 last time but I'm not expecting above the £1.75 paid by Octopus this time. I would hope it isn't any less.

I think your picking up the committed (Ie accepted) the last sessions actuals arent published

Only reason I can see is a form of protest, if they drop the prices too low.

We are effectively a mini-power plant in this equation.

If they don't offer enough, then supply/demand will kick in, and they won't hit the kind of numbers they want people to export/save.

Below £1/kWh I'd be less inclined to bother to be honest, because of this reason, but at £1.75 I'll bite. It's still probably profitable at £0.50/kWh or so, but that is paying very little for a high demand thing then.

Apparently Octopus bid £1.50

£1.75 from Octopus for each kWh.
:)

The next Saving Session:
Today for 1 hour between 18:00 - 19:00

Opt in now to earn 1400 Octopoints - worth £1.75 - for every unit of power you save

If they bid £1.50 and are paying us £1.75 per kWh saved, how are Octopus making money here?

Has to be something to it. You'd assume that it would typically be along the lines of Octopus getting £2 per kWh saved and then paying us the £1.75, means they get something for running it and working out the numbers etc then.

Is it the cost of supplying energy to us at that time being higher than the difference?

I can only export at 3 at the moment due to the DNO. I've appealed it and been given permission for 7. Just waiting for my mate to come round and adjust the export limit on my battery so I can dump at its maximum - 5.
