Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

I hope this is the right thread to ask this. I'm with EDF on their Ensure Tracker tariff, but last winter I was on their standard tariff and I received quite a few saving session emails, usually for an hour or two at a time. This winter I haven't received any.

Has anybody with EDF received any emails this winter? Or is it because I'm on a tariff which somehow doesn't allow for these saving sessions, or whatever EDF call them?

IIRC there has only be one on Octopus, no idea on EDF, but there hasn't been many anyway.

No bids from Octopus, all others rejected so far, this does indeed look dead this year.

I wondered who infinis were as they always seem to bid low. Which will always get them a spot it seems.

Actually not unhappy if they do ok.

"Infinis is a leading low carbon energy generator. We capture methane from landfill sites and disused mines, and use it to generate electricity. Our flexible power response and battery storage projects support the electricity grid when needed. We're committed to continuing to invest in renewables, including solar. It's great to be helping the UK's transition to net zero."

Last winter there were 15 saving sessions and we'd already had 8 by now.

I think they're as good as dead now unless we get a prolonged spell of calm, dull and cold weather at some point in Jan/Feb.
How many last winter were test sessions though? There have been many live sessions this year and it's just like they said, most are on low bids and not worthwhile to us.

NESO said "Our forecasts are showing tight margins on the electricity system for Wednesday evening between 4-7pm.
An electricity margin notice (EMN) has been issued to the market. This is a routine tool that we use most winters, and means we are generators to make any additional generation capacity they may have available.
The EMN does not mean electricity supply is at risk."

Whats the betting no saving session?

Requirements published for 4-7pm in 30 minute slots. Wind dropping and its getting very cold. If we dont get one today i'd say its over.

I’m down to 50% already, I’ll have to do some grid charging for this one.

Ha 58% here, not quiet enough, so have set discharge to off and if sun comes out then that will go to batt, otherwise will stick in a couple of kwh later just to be sure.
I'm only losing charging efficiency as I will use it later anyway if I end up slightly going over what i need for an hour.

No email yet but at 72p they can get stuffed, its nearly that for rest of day on agile lol

What sort af amount are you looking for as a minimum, personally i'm around 40-50p net
Net being : SS + export rate - import rate

I’ve set my battery to charge at full power for an hour at 15:00, I’ll pause it at 1600 and it’s set to discharge at full power for the house. I’ll need to manually pause the heat pump at 17:00.

Honestly, close to last year.

Battery from empty only took 14.2, minus the 1.6 I lose every day that is 12.6 usable and ive already gone through 3.2kwh which leaves me currently around 9-9.4 depending if battery wants to be a dick or not and shortchange me by getting to 4% at around 310v whilst I still got a few kwh left which I have to fix by charging then discharging to get it sorted.
