You need a nice scheduling system like me My system takes just under a minute to ramp right up or down, so just have to allow for that.

Last time was my own fault, trying to have the free generation on to last minute with 4kw of fan heaters.
Today if SS happens will just drop the fans a bit earlier. Its not so cold anyway.

When you sign up for Octoplus it automatically signs up your export if your export registered with them
Suspect you cannot sign up if you havent setup the export side

I suspect no more.
Weather is pretty bad so wind based renewables will be pretty high on gen.
Industry etc will start shutting down so demand will start to drop.

Importing is a gamble basically.
We have had more sessions this year, if it was last years schedule it probably (I haven't specifically checked) not have paid off.

Thats situationally dependent though, everyone is different.
As my batteries rarely last all day now I just use grid from 5-7pm which is by far the most likely session timing. It generally gets me to cheap charge time or very close now.
It has given me a base usage of just under 1kwh most of the time and its not added any cost to my bill.

I am 99% sure it was there just the same last year.

They give a load of that stuff away at times, I suspect the shop was opened up for some people who just must have certain items.

Some Folk are weird.

Yeah if you look at the links someone posted up before you could see bids on them.

No idea how they would validate.
Eg how can Octopus submit the volume they can realistically impact.

Yeah at a price point close to £2.25 I am sure.
But if they were to decide to bid say £1 they would be gambling that take up would be as significant.

I guess as they try a few price points its going to give them some idea.

Its going to be like placing ebay snipe bids!

The test sessions should have varied the price. While its worth it for the majority at £2.25, as it goes lower normal users and people without batteries will be less inclined to take part. Not worth the hassle for 20p etc.

Agree, based on east coast wind on friday from 4-5pm its dropped quite a lot. So perfect timing.
Its get really really low later in the evening but probably too far after the peak usage to be realistic

East coast wind has been a pretty good estimator for them in the past
