No, loads of people have asked on the Octopus forum, but there isn't a way to do it.Question....can you donate the free hours anywhere?, I have 10 hours banked but no use for them, or very few of them as the weather changes this month.
How you getting on with Axle?Octopus saving session 6-7pm and then Axel event from 7.30-8.30pm. At least there's no clash this time!
Very well! I signed up at the beginning of September and have had 4 events now. I can export about 9.63kWh each event at £1/kWh so with the £25 signup bonus I've made £61 so far.How you getting on with Axle?
If it's a weekday, it's the previous 10 week days excluding saving session days (bank holidays are classed as weekends), it's not clear if it's official DFS days, or just ones Octopus participated in.Does anyone know the algorithm octopus uses to calculating how much you saved?
Thanks - that's how I understood it but it doesn't work out for me.If it's a weekday, it's the previous 10 week days excluding saving session days (bank holidays are classed as weekends), it's not clear if it's official DFS days, or just ones Octopus participated in.
They then work out your average import over them days, and for the current session you have to import less, or export more than usual.
Can't remember weekends, but think they use previous 4 weekend days, not including session days.
As I said I use on average 25kwh per day - that's an average over quite a whileYou can't really go by what you use in a day, as it's very likely the usage is uneven, but if you use zero during the saving session, that should be less presuming you usually use power in that hour.
Is just one or two sessions that are wrong, as Octopus had issues a few weeks back, my 15th September session shows that I shifted nothing, but I know I exported more than usual, other have had the same.
This used to be a good site, but due an Octopus problem it's not currently working.

Normal usage is 0. That's how I knowBut it's not daily, it's the hour the session falls in, you may use 25kWh in a day on average, but what is your normal usage between 6pm and 7pm (or whatever time the session is)?
How do you know you use 0 kWh between 6pm and 7pm?
So, you have a big battery, running the whole house between 5:30am and 11pm, therefore no grid draw, and presumably no grid export (see caveat below), and I presume you are wondering why you're not getting happy hours???I have a big battery that runs the whole house between 5:30am and 11pm.
I don't export yet (still waiting for all the bureaucracy to wind to a close). I do get happy hours every week. So, you have a big battery, running the whole house between 5:30am and 11pm, therefore no grid draw, and presumably no grid export (see caveat below), and I presume you are wondering why you're not getting happy hours???
FYI, I have a big battery (29 kWh), that runs the whole house 5:30am to 23:25, at 16:00 it starts exporting, to reach 15% SOC at 23:25 which is does dynamically monitoring house load, solar etc, which it does every day (except some winter days when it may run out due to the ASHP, but then it doesn't export either).
Along comes a saving session, said system now waits until the saving system starts, it then exports at circa 8 KW (full power), until the hour is up, then the system goes back to normal export mode. End result, I always export more in a saving session, than a normal hour in the evening, thus I always get happy hours.
PS. It very unlikely normal usage is zero, inverter outputs take a moment to react, that results in a slight grid draw, or export. I have a Victron Quattro and Cerbo GX running Node Red, and also Home Assistance monitoring everything so I know exactly what is going on.
I'm not worriedIf you don’t import or export (outside of inverter noise) in the saving session you seem to qualify for the free hour.
My neighbour is on FIT so consumed every KWH generated and never exports their battery and always qualifies.
I wouldn’t worry about it.
I just like to know how things work.Sure, but then why do I get 0.25kwh savings sessions reward?I expect they count ‘0’ as saving even if that is your baseline.
