Saw a strange shadow - please give me a logical explanation

The fact you said you were thinking about your loss (sorry to hear that) and were tired may explain a lot.
Put this one down to that and if it happens again have a rethink

No there isn't, but I won't ever accept that we are alone and the most "intelligent" beings in the Universe.... ;)

Have you ever come across the idea we are in a simulation? Forget the actual name of it. But it actually makes a lot of sense of you can leave your self importance at the door

WARNING SEXIST POST

I can understand women believing crap like ghosts, astrology and supernatural events because their brains aren't wired up like ours but I just don't get it when men believe the same unproven garbage.

Had a good read through all the replies there, thanks for the advice all!

Been reflecting on it a bit today when I've had a moments rest, I do feel different about it now than I did last night. I'm almost certainly of the opinion that there was some logical reason it was occurring and now wish I had have just walked to the back of my garden to investigate!! But as it progressed last night it got to the stage where I was almost frozen at my back door staring at this shadow. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time I thought I had did everything I could to try and figure out what it was.

The point about me being tired is a fair one, I was indeed pretty tired by that stage and have been busy lately with my head stuck in my laptop so perhaps that also didn't help. As for the speculation of me smoking a J, that definitely wasn't the case last night... Unfortunately...

As per Jamesyboyjim's advice I will keep an eye out now, just to see if anything else occurs, or maybe even have a look tonight to see if the shadow is there and to see if I can find its source. But at this stage I've just put it down to the source being unknown, rather than supernatural.

Massive thanks for the condolences too, greatly appreciated. I didn't think his death had affected as much as it has, last nights occurrences definitely made me realise just how much I'm still missing him!

No not at all it seems unlikely. Although maybe they've found us deemed we weren't intelligent and moved on :D.

I don't think there's any difference in the genders when it comes to believing stuff like this.

Not just at this stage. Your ultimate conclusion is that its not supernatural.

You seem to seem to think about things too much. I wouldn't recommend looking for things which you know don't exist.

Ummm, look at the sheer number of men that believe in religion. It essentially falls into the same gategory as ghosts, astrology and supernatural.

You are just a sexist. :)

And why shouldn't they believe in the supernatural? how do you explain purposeful design in the natural world and why do some scientists copy design from nature? the core principle of human engineering is design so we know what design is when we see design, some say that if there is purposeful design surely there must be a purposeful designer?

Yeah nature. Surprisingly we adapt well to environments. It's not like any evolution was bang on first time it's a subtle scale until we reach the point it's no longer needed.

We all see things like this all the time.
Shadows, reflections, ect.
But our brain just ignores them, occationally I will think.. "that looks like... on no its just a shadow." I think thats pretty normal.

The reason you are thinking "supernatural" is because of your emotional attachment to him. Seeing his exact shadow was just an unfortunate co-incidence. Had it been a shadow shaped like something else, say a cat you wouldn't attach any spiritual meaning.
"there is a cat in the garden... oh no its just a shadow"

However somebody who recently had a cat run over might think he was being contacted from beyond the grave.
Perfectly normal thing at the time, although once I found out it was a shadow I wouldnt attach any further meaning to it. Just a sign that you are greaving.

Hope you feel better soon.

It might be a low frequency sound from a fan or dodgy engine somewhere. It could cause a dark image in the eye, which the brain then attempts to rationalise by linking emotions and known imagery together into something that makes some semblance of sense.

Its well known in certain cultures for them to linger around after the death of someone as they miss them just as much as we do.

It's also well known in said certain cultures to believe people with mental health disease need to have demons physically beaten about them. Therefore, the less said about these cultures the better as they are completely backwards.

I'm gobsmacked that people believe this nonsense.

I'm going to share this and I do have a track record of being sectioned.
My Nan died in 1980 and I was Nanny reared. I missed her so much that for many years when I drove through her area, I would see her but I absolutely knew 100% it was just me wanting to see her.
the mind is powerful.

Quite right, and keep the disabled kids all locked up too, for fear people might think you are being punished for your sins by having them in the first place...

/culture ;)
