Well, im planning on getting a Saxo VTR as first car, its insurance group 7, is their any hope of getting cheap insurance?

17 and wanting a typical boy racer car, i have a feeling you will get insurance at a price tho :]

Yes of course you will, you have zero experience and you are going to be driving a typical boy racer car.

Just think for a second, why on earth would an insurer give you cheap insurance?

Either bite the bullet and pay for premium insurance, or wait a few years for a better car like the rest of us. :)

No, is the simple answer, you need to decided how much your willing to pay.

Not a chance then, even if you have your entire family on.

Edit: Have you actually tried to get a quote?

I dont think you will really find anything for under £1000 to insure. I couldnt.

Ok maybe things like a moped, i mean an ok-nice car.

At 17 i doubt you could insure a 1ltr fiesta for 1k.

At 18, my Citroen AX1.0 was £1250.

However your area often affects the quote. Low crime areas should see these types of cars cheaper, perhaps around £800.

I was randomly finding quotes on cars for a new driver aged 17 (as you do when bored :o ) and I found that VTR's only came out £1-200 dearer to insure than the same age/mileage 1.25 fiesta zetec. So it isnt actually that bad, even tho most quotes, even for the fiesta were around £2k. :(

I guess going for something smaller for the first jahre would be better. Like 1.4.

Engine size isn't the be all and end all of insurance quotes, there are many other factors involved in calculating a premium. Hence why it's best to get a quote directly from an Insurers website rather than asking on a forum :)

Yugo 45 might be had for under 1k

WHat i was wondering was when you do a quote online, and it says "call us we were unable to give you a quote"

Does that mean its sky high?

It means go away.

Try another insurer.

Basically means they are not willing to quote you and want to speak to you directly, usually means they are not interested tbh.

Hahaha, have you seen the video with Jeremy Clarkson driving it, then blows it up with a tank? :D

Oh yea, what a beast, green and everything + it changes gear without using the clutch, stunning!

Best one was when he took it up the hill and it stopped!
