Scalextric - problems!

Managed to get myself a new ac adaptor, but only one of the tracks is receiving power. Seems that there is a connection issue with the power base to the other track.

May try getting a cheapo one off the bay.

I remember getting Jaguar Challenge for Christmas once. The house we had at the time had a HUGE kinda drawing room, useless for anything but a HUGE track.

Happy days

I have the nigel mansel camel f1 williams car and a rothmans (or maybe john player special) black f1 car (dont know who this is) in the loft!
Also have an escort and metro rally version, proper 80s.

Got miles of the stuff and some cool cars under one of the beds, this is tempting me to get it out:o
Must check to see if I've got any sellotape to get that extra grip out of the tires first though;)

i used to have a police car, with flashing lights as it went round the track. it was cool to use in the dark plus you could see the wire brushes on the underneath like making sparks :D

oh.. and did anyone find that the mini-scaletrix we're always tonnes quicker than the bog standard big ones? they were like rockets those little things.

Does this count as a decent track?

No. :p Its way too small and down on the number of lanes. This is a proper track.

-Tauren-, Decent cars of the 32nd scale are much much faster than you think. You just probably used old scalextric stuff im guessing.

Theres a track like that underneath my HighSchool. Nobody ever knew about it untill the door was left open one night and we went down for a look.

EDIT:: http://uk.geocities.com/bscrauk/longben/longb1_small.jpg There ya go :D

Wow, Brands Hatch in Scalextric form! :D Great circuit.

That sounds like the cop car used in 'Race and Chase'. Which featured a working ramp/jump, and gave you the ability to do U-Turns. Mine is still probably in my mum's loft, though whether it all still works after 23 years is another matter...

I had 2 sets- Mighty Metro's and Sierra Cosworths

Combine the two and I had an OK track. In addition to the 4 cars that came with the sets I had a 911, 3 series BMW and a couple of others that have slipped my mind.

Cossies and the Beemer were my fav's :p

Ah the memories, ive not played with a Scalextric for so many years. I cant remember what set it was I first had but it came with a red F40 and a black Lambo Diablo, so many good times and lost money went on that. A pair of proper old school scalextic lorries were the first extras I bought. Reading this thread now makes me want a set, damn this old school type threads ive got to decide over one of these or an N64 now!

hehe i used to have that one.. big button on top of the controller that you whacked and the car used to slide right round :D awesome fun

W00t! I still have my Jaguar Challenge set. :D

Got it for Christmas, I must have been about 5-6 at the time. It was the most expensive one at the time you know. :)

I wanted a Scalextric for my 10th birthday and ended up with a damn train set instead with an Intercity 125 on it :(

Random topic I must say, but was at some friends earlier this evening and they had got the scalextric out of the the attic. Put it together and when the 15v power supply was plugged in, the red light on the power base didn't light up and nothing worked.

Sounds like a dodgy transformer, its always the same with Scalextric I find, again and again. You can get a new one for £3.10. If it was me though, I'd just get the Subbuteo out instead and since my Uncle owns a sports shop I have access to quite rare east european squads and that.

Any similarity in the above to a song by Half Man Half Biscuit is purely coincidental.

Very Brands-Hatch like. Great circuit, loved it when I go the chance to drive it for real :)

Can't wait till my little boy is old enough for me to buy him a Scalextric set. It's for him, honest Guv! :D
