Well I'm going to year 8 in like 7 days and I just feel a bit nervous about moving up. It's a bit like will anything change, will things get harder. Will I be ready for it all.

You shouldn't be worried at all :) Year 8 is the easiest year in all of secondary school and I (I'm going into Y9) barely got assigned any work during lessons, we also watched a helluvalotta films in R.E. lol. Now Year 9 thats when you should be worryingg ;)

Find a hobby that you really enjoy, chose subjects in school that will help fulfil your education and knowledge in that field and you'll never work a day in your life.

well that would be my advise in hindsight. :D

So you're going in to year 8? You now have year 7's to pick on? Make one your bitch / fag (if you're posh)

Can someone explain the English education system to me.
I always thought it was Year 1 - 7 = Primary School.
Year 8 & 9 are nothing really.
Year 10 & 11 are GCSEs.
Year 12 is AS Levels
Year 13 is A Levels.
You can't go to university with anything less than A-Levels?

Am I correct?

Scotland is:
Primary 1 - 7 = Primary School
Year 1 - 2 aren't really anything.
Year 3 - 4 = Standard Grades (GCSE equivilent's).
Year 5 = Higher's (you can go to university with these)
Year 6 = Advanced Higher's (Regarded as 'better' than A-Levels).

Im going back to school in Sep 1 for my first year of A-Levels, still dont know what subjects I want to do!

well, anyway my advice to you is dont take the first 3 years of high/seconday school seriously, just relax and enjoy it, make new friends.

after that, its heads down for you untill you leave school, as GCSE is where it gets serious.

I remember my friend explaining the Scottish differences. Ok in england 1-6 primary.

The numbers continue for 5 more years.
secondary

7 first year
8 2nd year
9 3rd year
10 preparing for gcse's
11 Gcse A levels.

Then college then uni.

As everyone else has said, year 8 is a cakewalk.

The only difference is that now you realise you do not need to bring a bag to school so large that you can be stuffed into it readily by any year 11 kid.

My only advice is that anything you are going through for the next 5 years might seem massive but in reality is absolutely nothing to worry about once you are out in the real world for a few years.

Enjoy the time you have left, don't fret about your homework and all that kind of crap. Work your nuts off and get the best grades that you can get. You might not revise and get 10 Bs in your GCSEs but if you just try a little you can improve that and stand out from the crowd a little more when it comes to A Levels and then further education.

England it is

Primary = 1-6
High = 7-11
College/Sixth Form = 12-13 Although these normally only apply to sixth form not college.

Only tip I can give you as a wizened 21 year old is to get good at something. Dosen't matter what, anything will do. Between your age and mine, you can become a master at something.

Only wish someone had given me that heads up!
