Scared of moving up

Year 8 is easily the best year of High school, because you have nothing important to do. Learn stuff, but don't worry too much about it. It'll all sort itself out. You won't even need to start thinking about what you want to do for your GCSEs, by Year 9 you'll probably already know what things you like and what you hate so it should be really easy to pick.
A-Levels are the same really, but they're a long way off. And as for knowing what you want to do with your life, again that's a really long way off. I'm 20, and I haven't the faintest idea what I want to do after university. It's not something you need to worry about. It might not be a bad idea for me to start thinking about it though...

Also, this is an excellent idea:
Only tip I can give you as a wizened 21 year old is to get good at something. Dosen't matter what, anything will do. Between your age and mine, you can become a master at something.

Only wish someone had given me that heads up!

Yes. A brilliant suggestion. I've become quite good at guitar and bass, but I'm nowhere near a master. It'd be brilliant to be great at something. Captain Hindsight strikes again.

I was level 7 in Maths and Science in year 7. But slacked at GCSE. C in maths and BB in science.

But yeah, get good at something. Play Piano, Sax(that's what I did) or violin. All of which
will make you a better person when you are older.

Do not fall into the chav trap, don't smoke dope and drink too young. and you might actually make something of your life.

Which is what i am trying to do at the moment.

I was raised in a council estate, but i think its safe to say, im ten times smarter than all of them.

Why? because I was quite unsociable while studying when it was needed.

Do your homework, and for heaven's sake do your coursework.

It was the difference between a C and a B at GCSE in English, because i was too lazy to do it.

There's the basis for a gritty however ultimately rubbish film in this thread somewhere.

year 8 worrying about your future??? lol wth.. i don't think i even cared about next week at that age...School was a place to meet your mates and have fun...

Today is the day when I officially lost track of what young people are talking about.

:D

He's worrying now can you imagine what he'll be like when he gets offered a promotion at work. It will be a coronary by the age of thirty.

Tbh when I read the topic title, I thought this was going to be a topic about a promotion at work.... then this! I suddenly worry that I'm not worrying about doing my final year of uni and dissertation because someone is worrying about going to year 8! xD

Damn I remember year 8, as it was a prep school we used to think we were the top of the top as it was the last year. When I look at year 8's I can't actually believe how small they are.
I used to be actually pretty hard working, I remember I was getting 80% in common entrance for maths and was almost going to do a scholarship.

It will be just like year 7 but with more acne
Year 8/9/10 is a joke, you have nothing to be worried about! End of year 11+ is when **** gets real!
Nope. When you have three kids, you've been stuck in a job for 10 years, you're threatened with redundancy, your home is repossessed and you wife leaves you is when **** gets real.

Thankfully this has happened to me yet either :)

how old you are ?

im 43 and dont have a clue how to use prunctruation ! :0

FIXED.

GCSEs aren't anything special and the work is pretty easy. If you're getting level 7s now, you'll probably find GCSEs very easy and nothing to worry about when it comes to taking them.

I had 8s across the board for my year 9 SATs. Everyone was calling me a prodigy so I chillaxed and ****ed up my GCSEs :E
