Scared of wasps/bees

I got stung by a hornet once and it really hurt. Had a massive lump on my arm for about a week too.

I woke up at 5 in the morning this morning to find a spider crawling over my chest!

Currently in France for the summer and we're being plagued by the nasty looking Frelon or Hornets in English. They look like massive wasps and give a really nasty sting. Apparently France are having a problem with them this summer (Asian Hornets), there are certainly more about than normal.

Has anyone ever been stung in the willy/scrote? I haven't but just wondering if it would hurt more..?

Or what about being stung in the pupil!

Urrrggh slow Friday again

I'm being serious here, I'm petrified when I see a wasp/bee indoors or when I see quite a few in a small area.

I don't know why I'm scared though?

Maybe because I've never been stung, so I don't know how bad it is.

I know it sounds really pathetic but it is a problem that I want to resolve.

Any tips?

Many flying insects that people assume are bees or wasps are infact hornets. My uncle kills hornets and he told me this so it must be correct. :p ;)

Got stung on neck by bee. Pain was nothing to write home about to be honest.

Smacking your thumb with a hammer or stubbing your toe hurts more.

Wouldn't let the fear of it it ruin your life or anything!

Earlier this year, we knocked down a wasp nest from my garage. It was just starting to take shape. It fell on the floor and split open. Inside were some baby wasps. My girlfriend got all sad and said, 'Those poor wasp babies.... They all had names.... One of them was called Jasper...' which at the time I found quite hilarious.

You're scared because your parents failed to teach you not to be scared, and quite probably actually taught you to be scared.
My mum is not scared of any bug, insect or animal - she loves everything.
My dad is not scared of any bug, insect of animal. I was bought up in a very nature/wild type area with lots of access to creatures/insects of all shapes and sizes. I'm fine with spiders, snakes(reptiles in general), bees, wasps etc but I'm scared and hate most insects. I was taught from a young age that they are fine etc, all 4 of my brothers have no issues and have followed in my mum/dad's (their biological mum/dad's) footsteps apart from me. So I would beg to differ.

Horrible little ****s... I've been stung a few times and ****ing hate them.

Same as moths. Any stupid flying little **** annoys me, 10x when it's indoors. It gets the Dyson treatment as soon as one enters my house :D :D

Not much you can go about wasps or hornets really, evil things.

As for bees and to some extent the associated flying-stinging creature phobia go find someone who keeps bees.

Did this with our son, he was really scared of bees flying about the garden.

Took him to a honey farm and he spent ages looking in the hives and seeing them swarm about the place. Once he saw that hundreds of them flying about werent going to bother him he has been fine ever since.

Having been stung on the balls by a Wasp I still do not fear neither them nor bees.

I do have a certain feeling that no wasp likes me and will go absolutely out of its way to sting me.

Last summer I had wasps come into my window every night , very late when I kept the light on, never during the day or anything.

There must have been a nest nearby, it got to the point where I just go on the offensive as soon as I see one.

"Don't annoy it, it'll sting you"
How about don't annoy me and I won't squash you with the ratio equivelant to the power of a billion suns.

This year it has been perfect, not a single one, I think I've won this war.

Where I live currently they love to come in for some reason. I get a fair number of hornets in at the beginning and end of the year for some reason too.

Really hate the things - at one point they had found a hole in through the wall and were walking straight into the bathroom.
