Scared of wasps/bees

I dont understand why people have fears of insects. I mean, really, what are they going to do? A little sting at worst which would be unlikely if it wasn't provoked.

It's partially an evolutionary thing. Humans evolved in Africa, and there are lots of nasty poisionous/parasitic bugs which can attack you.

Picking bugs out of your or your buddies hair is a massive part of ape culture. When they settle down for the night, they can often be seen clearing the area of bugs beforehand.

I was in the car the other day and 2 wasps flew in and were crawling all over the windscreen, scared the **** out of me, was on a dual carriage way at the time aswel. After 5 minutes of me bricking myself they eventually flew out. I needed a new pair of underwear after I left the car

I was on the back of a motorbike today doing about 40~ (with my visor up) and a wasp hit me in the face (cheek)!

I didn't know it was a wasp at the time and thought it was a ladybird, it remained on my face for about 2 minutes before I removed my helmet and it dropped onto my jacket, trying to sting it!

I'm amazed it didn't sting me! Talk about lucky!

Petrified of wasps! Also don't like moths due to them both flying unpredictably, if wasps only learnt to hover I'd have no issue and simply smack them up-side the head without fear of missing and being chased!

Funnily enough my experience is a combination of the two posts above. I got a wasp caught in my helmet while I was driving my motorcycle on a dual carriage way and it just wouldn't get out! It was also not very happy about being there..

Its only wasps that are scary. I'm not bothered by bees because they are like butterflies. They fly around the flowers, leave you alone, and NEVER fly inside your house (Smart insects).

Wasps however are all over the place, particularly near garbage and often get inside the house and end up buzzing and flying around the windows like psycho maniacs trying to get out.

Maybe if you werent so loud, aggressive and scary, Id be able to walk up to you and open the window to let you out!!!

Stupid wasps making me get the towel or shoe instead..... Also if you miss, RRRRUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!

Wasps, moths and spiders are stupid and evil. Butterflies, bees and ladybirds are not.

I've got a mate who is terrified of them, once I was in a car with him and a wasp flew in the window and landed next to him, he had a fit and almost started crying :D. Aside from that he's pretty normal.

I personally can't stand them but that incident put my fear in perspective :p

When I was in Primary School, I kicked a nest and I got stung around 30-40 times.. under armpits, groin area, legs and face. Wasn't pretty. I tend to avoid them now. If they fly near my face, I just ignore them. They seem to fly off eventually.
