Scariest Game you have ever played?

Amnesia.

Played first time in ages the other night, early hours, lights out,was walking down the corridor & opened a door, just at the same time the metal lid fell off bin just outside the window, most likely a fox.

Scream loud enough to wake up others who were in bed, jump out of my skin.
Silly thing is I'm 48 & screaming.:o

Probably this old warhammer 40k rts game, you played as space marines fighting tyranids and when there was an encounter you would get a extremely frightening mini cutscene of a tyranid attacking you in first person!

chilling...

Easily this. The limited freeze time you had to give orders made me break out in a sweat. The levels were rock hard too, you often got out with only one or two marines, and when you lost one it could all very easily fall apart in seconds if you weren't quick to react.

A game on the 360 where you're a detective solving serial killings and then get framed for the crime. I stopped playing through stress when I had to walk through an abandoned shop full of manequins which I suspected had nutters hiding among them. Only game thats really pressed my fear button, so much so I decided it was not fun and stopped playing.

I'll join in and say Amnesia, Doom 3 and the Fear games. I also did not much enjoy being spooked out when underground in Stalker SoC xD. Bloodsuckers at night can just die in a fire.

System Shock 2 by far. Will probably be overtaken by Amnesia when I get round to playing more than the opening level.

Also, Sainitorium, especially the cut scenes.

I'd have to agree with Amnesia, never felt so helpless in a game before.

Condemned? if so that scared the **** of me lol

Silent Hill 2 scared me, with the static on the radio going off when something is near. Also the hotel part had my heart rate up.

not played to many games mentioned but most recently I played metro 2033, its the sort of game I love to play but dont if you know what i mean, i just hate the suspense of it all, but thats what it should do so its awsome..

Resident evil 1 would be the first scary game I really played with me and my mates probably around 11 years old, like a bunch of girls we were lol

Another vote for the first Resident Evil and those damn dogs :D

Doom 3, although the gameplay got repetitive pretty quickly, was packed with tension all the way through and made me jump on occasion!

Must try out Amnesia one of these days.

Can't name one. All of the below made me **** myself at some point or another and are the scariest games or sections i've played. These are games that i've genuinely been scared and no by some cheap jump-out moment like Residen Evil games have.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl (underground sections mainly)
Penumbra games
Silent Hill 2
Amnesia Dark Descent
Condemned: Criminal Origins
