School shoes

Give him a pair of US BRASS.

That'll learn him :p

If he were a smart 11yr old, he'd have played you easy and said he needed them for PE, then just worn them daily :D

They're unable to slip a woman a bit of tongue.

Fair play.

'They're unable to slipper woman a bit of tongue' would have got you full marks but 9/10 isn't bad

OP: why do you think its not okay?

Generally if you have to ask strangers on the internet if something is okay despite the rules allowing it, then it generally is not okay due to whatever misgivings your having. I personally would get something more traditional with a bit more durability, cheapness doesnt come into it, effort replacing shoes quicker than they outgrow them. Plimsolls will rip easily from just running around playing football.

A good point. If he cant earn the shoes through smarts, then he has better things to focus on at school other than what goes on his feet. School is where you pick up important social manipulation and cheating skills to get you through working life. How is he gonna cheat an office collegue from a well deserved promotion at work when he is 25, if he cant even persuade his parents to get him Primark plimsolls for school.

Being 11, you'll have to establish what he identifies as and buy appropriate footwear to suit. E.g. If he identifies as an imperial Chinese court dancing female you'll have to bind his feet and buy him some lotus shoes. If he identifies as a horse, you will have to nail some metal to his feet.

Either way, establish his identify before forcing your insensitive, conformist and discriminatory footwear on your son/dancer/horse.

No wonder there are so many grumpy Christians about; their glove, shoe and hat combo is really uncomfortable!

Another reason I think he wants them is because his best friend wears them

Why are you bothering to post? Everyone has told you no. You're continuing to find justification.
Go do what you want which is obviously to capitulate to the will of a child. Just don't get confused when in the future you find the offspring doesn't understand boundaries or rules.

I suppose you have to let him wear them then!

He can have them Monday through to Thursday and his mate can have them Friday and weekends.

Bit weird that your son wants to wear other peoples shoes tbh, maybe you should be more concerned with that than what kind of shoes they are.

:D

Now I know this is trolling...

If it's not, hang your head in shame and really own the responsibility for bringing up your children. If you need to refer to an unknown group of people to help you decide these sorts of decisions then heaven help you when he reaches his teens.
