I'm gonna guess the OP is the actual son and is trying to figure out if he can get away with wearing pumps or whatever - and he's simply subbed 10 years off his year of birth

If he's anything like my nephew was he will have his shoes wrecked within weeks from kicking rocks and footballs and whatever kids seem to do. With that said I'd just get some plain black but reasonable quality shoes that can handle a kicking.

Can't believe the OP has posted this. Shoes are shoes, plimsolls are plimsolls. The former are for wearing as part of school uniform, the latter for partaking in organised physical activity.

That picture of those plimsoles sent shivers up my spine. I remember mum buying me a white pair - the fit was horrible and I couldn't run properly in them. I flat out refused to wear them. Dad agreed and bought me a pair of lace up Hi-Tec trainers and I was forever greatful.

I have small feet and one day I bought a pair of school kid trainers - black lace up and they were the worst trainer I have ever worn - in fact they were dangerous in wet - soles were crap and I kept slipping.

Still good way of keeping these vandals off street if they break their legs.

You should home school him to avoid having to make difficult decisions on his footwear. He'll become a broken shut-in with zero inter-personal skills, a worrying intolerance of others, and be almost certainly unemployable but at least you'll have fixed the shoe conundrum!

Clark's Black school shoes, they tend to be more hard wearing and comfortable, definitely a no for plimsoles.
