Scorn - wtf?

Visually, it was nice while it lasted, but for me there's only so much tedious walking to figure stuff out I can handle in a world that has no other form of world interaction to play with along the way.

I lasted 20 minutes then uninstalled

Yeah also uninstalled after some 20 minutes. I think it probably is a great game for someone other than me. I had same issue with latest Amnesia. These puzzly walking sims just put me to sleep, even if they look as interesting as this one.

Just watched Charlie's/Penguin's vid and it looks insane artwork and detail wise, and the puzzle aspect could be great. But the lack of pretty much any story whatsoever seems very odd. Seems like it could have been insanely immersive if they tried to construct a bit of a narrative.

This is my primary critique. I like the idea of being plunged into a mysterious environment that looks like it makes no sense. But at some point, in order for the game to be meaningful, it has to make some kind of sense.

Saw some pictures of this and obvious saw the similarities with H.R. Giger and alien movies (which were based on Giger's work).... thought it looked nice and could be a good 'creepy shooter', watched a trailer which shows sod all so went and found a 'walk through' instead and I came away thinking my god that looks boring.

Artistically it has a lot of potential, but then they're borrowing heavily from one of, if not the most well known biomechanical artists in the world, but it means nothing if the rest of the game doesn't encourage you to play it.... some of the biggest hits in gaming have literally been games where it was about the gameplay not the way they look (snake, tetris etc)

Their secondary influence is Zdzisław Beksiński. Generally speaking, the interiors are Giger while the exteriors and life forms are Beksiński.

Admitedly only on Act II-I, but really liking this so far.
I love the way it looks & sounds, I love that there's no hand-holding at all & that all the story-telling is visual & inferred, no line of text or dialogue so far.
It's also cool how from the 1st puzzle it's not super-easy. Some previews complaining that they needed the developers help to get past the 1st puzzle. I can only asume they're impacient (reasonable, since they're on the clock & working).
Given that the running time is supposed to be quite short, I'm OK with getting stuck & having another go the next day.
I heard later on it gets more combat heavy. That's a pity, I've really enjoyed the puzzle gaming so far & they could have absolutely sustained the whole game on that.
Anyway, playing on Game-Pass, I would recommend it to anyone who's curiosity is piqued.

A damn shame, I love the art style. Was hoping for a horror, survival shooter.
But a puzzle game?

Think I'll watch a playthrough instead.

Can't believe the hate for puzzle games. By far one of the hardest type of game to design & one of the least common to see executed well. There's a million shooter games out there (I love them too, of course).
Zelda, Portal, Shadow of the tomb raider, Talos Principal, how many are there, really ?
This thread just goes to show why we have so many identikit games nowadays.

As long as there's no Švankmajer, a man has his limits, after all.
Played this around a mate's earlier. Utter gash. Tedious beyond compare.
How far did you get ?
