scotch bonnets

I got some "scotch bonnet" chillies from the supermarket, they weren't as hot as people claimed... or have I been diddled!?

Nice.

What's the actual flavour like? Does it taste fresh or more "artificial" due to too much extract......or is there even much of a flavour at all because of the heat? :D

well, im not too good on describing flavours, but i think it is on borderline extract...not all that tasty. the heat was good, and lasted a good further 30 minutes after initially tasting it. i think ill keep this one for soups rather than dipping my chips in :p

as far as im aware, when they are green they are not that hot at all as they turn yellow when ripe, and that's when they have kick in them.

you may have eaten unripe green chilli's

...fudge cakes...

Well I'll know that next time. :) Thanks.

hi, i ordered some stuff from scorchio :p and arrived yesterday. some sriracha (sp?) hot sauce, and da bomb hot sauce.

If you got Da' Bomb Beyond Insanity then that's quite mild (if you like it hot). On the other hand if you got Da' Bomb The Final Answer at 1.5m then be prepared to have your mind blown :D

Blair's Sweet Death is actually quite nice and mild, great for chips. It's about 50,000 scoviles so not too bad.

Thanks for this thread. I discovered Scorchio as a result and have just received some tasty bottles of hot sauce. The Mrs, however, has warned me that she will chuck them in the bin if she catches me putting them on every meal she cooks.

Unfortunately, she sees it as a little crass to put hot sauce on everything, as apparently it suggests that she's not very good at cooking. Anyone else suffer from this problem?
