Scotland : Friendly?

What are you on about, who said i was born in Scotland?

A Mixed race Brit who is a non Scot living in Scotland, what an OUTRAGEOUS statement .

Calling yourself British to separate yourself from people born in Scotland is beyond moronic.

Because you clearly stipulated that in your opening post  and you're calling my statement moronic, keep backtracking more mate.

Have a read of what the OP asked. I deliberately separated it because the OP separated it.

That doesn't even make sense. Your first post also makes no sense - you can't say you're "British" to separate yourself from people born in Scotland, as they are also British.

I would agree with this. However, you can apparently state that you're 'British' to separate yourself from those who consider themselves to be 'Scottish', even when you were born in Scotland.

Why can't we just all get along? :D

The OP jested at the distinction, i was simply following their proforma - Why wouldn't I in this case?.

The distinction was simply made in order to support the statement that you're far more likely to encounter cross British colony racism rather than any other form of racism.

In your opening post you pointed to the fact that you must be British if you were born in Scotland which is obvious but no one stated anything about being born in Scotland, i can't see how your opening post fits in exactly - surely your opening post should have been the second post then in all fairness i would have agreed and just stated the above.

Translation:

Excuse me friend, hold your tongue. There's nothing wrong with a deep fried Mars Bar. It's a lovely meal :p

On Topic - I'm Scottish, my wife is English. There's always the banter over which part of the country is best, it's all good natured though and no offense is meant.

You'll find Edinburgh's a lovely city, very multicultural and I shouldn't imagine there's much racism there :)

C'mon man, you can't use words like that - you have to talk like they do.

Proper translation for our English cousins:

What a jolly jape sir, but if I may interject; lavishly sauted Mars bars
are a quintessential example of Scottish cusine and truly a culinary delight!

;)

Awful place didn’t like it at all when I went a few years ago, of course this is my opinion and I am entitled to it, maybe I went to the wrong places and spoke to the wrong folk who knows.

Whereabout in Scotland did you go to? It's a perfectly valid opinion of course, I'm just curious.

Thanks gents, saves me having to do the translation.

Glasgow.

Just every where I went it was a very worrying feeling of being afraid to speak as when you did you got looked at very funny and got a few comments, not a nice feeling at all, I didn’t feel at all comfortable.

Not denying it has some beautiful landscaped and buildings just I feel the people have got a very strong hatred for the English :(

Most scottish people are alcoholics and this, combined with their very poor diet makes them quite violent at the best of times. I wouldn't risk it tbh.

Most people in the the UK are alcoholics at a young age, not just Scotland.

I'm from Scotland and i don't drink at all, so i think you'll find not everyone is the same.

I think it was just your imagination, yeah you do get people that look at you in funny ways, but don't take it personally.

Poeple in Glasgow can be very friendly and i certainly have nothing against english people.
