Scots teacher struck off after admitting to having sex with pupil, 17

Every time I read these sort of stories I wonder why I never had a teacher like this back in secondary school.

I'm sure we all had a teacher whom we would have liked to have boned. Position of trust or not, does it really matter if I boned my teacher or girlfriend after the age of 16.
 
Struggling to see the problem here, as a teacher she would know full well that her students are off limits and the reasons why. Jeremy Forrest was no hero and neither is this woman.

It's more because you are in a really really good position to groom someone and even if there isn't proper grooming, the position of trust clouds the issue. How many young girls have a crush on a teacher? If they then enter into a sexual relationship, is that genuine or has it been influenced by the "role model".

Would we be happy with a male member of staff in a young offenders institute having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old female detainee? What about staff in a care home or foster placement? Same law applies.

At the end of the day, if you are in a position of trust (and that is legally defined, not some waffly concept) then you either remove yourself from the position or you don't bonk them.

For some laws, you are treated as an adult at 16. 16 and 17 year olds are a PITA from an administrative perspective. You can't treat them fully as kids and you can't treat them fully as adults.

This teacher was at my school when I was around 15-17, however no people that I know of (from my school) actually did anything with her. I not sure if I feel a bit disappointed or ashamed that no one did.
 
Let's just make everything illegal. It's the only way to be sure. Think of the poor, innocent 17 year olds who just can't make those kind of judgement calls.
