Thats the best spin I have ever heard, that 65% of Scottish votes for Pro-Union parties, are not votes for those parties, but voters who are YET to back the SNP.

Yes, that is very much the case. The vast majority of Scots would be ideologically independence minded if they think it would not harm them economically or diplomatically. The SNP do not have the problem of trying to convince Scots that an Independent Scotland is a great ideal, but rather that it is a practical enterprise. With Alex Salmond they have a great charismatic leader and would be statesman to convince them of that, next election the SNP and Greens will have an outright majority.

Could we have a poll please? With "For" , "Against" & "Not Sure" as options.

It depends.
Would we become a full member of the EU (with euros an everything) if we did become independant?
Would 'flower of scotland' become our official national anthem?

I don't see what is wrong with the Scots. I don't treat them as foreign people, I treat them as the same as me, and that is British. We have achieved so much together, why break it up?

Scotland loses money and we lose a lot of soldiers. If it does happen then I think we should at least kick Gordon Brown and all other Scottish MPs out!

It seems to be heading in that direction, if the scots want it I'm certainly not against it. Although from the scots posting in this thread its obviously not everyone in favour as I'd thought.

If Scotland became independant, then there wouldn't be any more Scottish MPs. For Gordon Brown to stay in Westminster, he'd have to move to a labour safe seat in England.

He'd technically be a foreign national though wouldn't he?? Would he still be able to stand for the "english" government ?

I'm pro-independence. There's no reason why a nation like Scotland can't stand on it's own two feet and enjoy the same level of living standards as we do now.

My only concern was a rise in socialism but I was encouraged to see Sheridan and his ilk kicked into touch by the Scottish voters.

As an English person I'm for it - each year Scotland takes millions and millions of pounds more than it gives back to the union - it's a money drain. I wouldn't mind this as there are advantages, but all I ever hear is Scottish people asking for independence, so why spend so much money on a people that don't want it?

I'm not sure what he would count as if he moved before the split. It wouldn't surprise me if some sort of "deal" was made that Scots living in England could continue to be British rather than Scottish though.

Does anyone have a source for Scotland being a 'drain' on UK money?
Scotland drains approximately £3billion from UK coffers, but the overall UK annual debt is £30billion, which actually means that we're no different to anywhere else in the UK in reality.

Jokester, where abouts in Aberdeenshire are you from? If you don't mind me asking.
Just outside Inverurie.
