Screen protector, yes or no?

I normally stick a tempered glass screen protector on all my phones. I didn't for the Xperia XZ1 I'm using at the mo, and it has a number of micro scratches. Won't be making that mistake next time...

I'm surprised how many people still use screen protectors, my 2 year old phone looks spotless majority of the time unless under the brightest of light and stupid angles with the screen off and even then I really have to look hard for the few micro scratches it has

And if you had a screen protector you would not have them few micro scratches :) and when it comes time to sell you can say the screen is spotless and have better chance of selling

I haven't used a screen protector for about 2-3 months now since my last one broke.

I have since kept the phone in its own pocket and there is not one micro scratch on the screen. I have come to the conclusion that what is most important is a good case that gives you good grip. I personally use a Spigen case which is amazing.

I see people all the over the place with screen protectors on their phone and their phones look terrible: part of the protector is lifting off, there are bubbles, it looks tatty. The experience of owning and using a phone is much better without one, as long as you're careful and treat the phone well.

EDIT: sorry for the necro, didn't realise how old this thread was.

Always used tempered glass protectors , totally would recommend using one could end up regretting it if dropped phone ending up with smashed screen no matter how careful you are can happen

Also even though the gorilla glass is meant to be difficult to scratch I've still seen micro scratches over time

Only issue is the screens with edges you really need to use the tempered glass that's applied by glue the other ones are waste of time

Its a definite no from me, I just keep my phone in a separate pocket to keys and coins etc. and never get any scratches. Screen protectors are horrible for the reasons you describe, I'd really rather not have one. I guess you can get some pretty good ones these days (apart from with curved screens like you) but it always seems odd to me when somebody has a nice phone and it looks terrible as they have an old screen protector peeling away at the edges.

My opinion exactly

I’ve not used a screen protector on any of my phones, ever. I now dual sim my work phone so even less reason to.

It’s the same argument as when photographers always have UV filters in their lenses “for protection“ umm so you’re going to take a £900 bit of glass and put a £30 filter over the top “just in case”? Doesn’t make sense to me. (That’s obviously ignoring filters that actual do something)
