Screwed up

Would all those who have made a serious mistake in their lives please post below, we seem to be swamped by people to the contrary?

Most people aren't stupid enough to drive with alcohol in their systems. When I was 17, had only just passed my test and all of my friends were going out and getting wasted every week, if I had to drive then I wouldn't even have a sip of alcohol. I have never driven with even one unit in my system, because I know that driving under the influence is bad.

Some people just don't help themselves, they don't think about the consequences of anything they do - they do first, think later. Be it drink driving or managing to get yourself into such a mess you've got to go onto a debt management programme at the age of 21.

Arrufel - wake up.

Sums up nicely the attitudes of a lot of under 30's in Britain and 99.9% of all Americans! (that last bit was tongue in cheek! :p )

You can't take the punishment don't commit the crime mate.
End of the day it does suck if you get a ban, but you did do the crime so you get no sympathy.

Look for a new job i'd say.

Yes, and my girlfriend's dead because of a drink driver. Take the punishment you so rightfully deserve, and learn your lesson.

Not being funny, i was thinking exactly the same thing, a lass i was seeing for 3 months was killed in crash, again drink driver involved. He walked away from the scene, was caught and banned.

I know their different circumstances. but your going to have to face upto it.

If you were at 54g your well over the limit.

Never doing it again, not even 1 :(
Oh no, my job, the parents! Actually, it's the fact you didn't injure yourself or anyone around you that's important here. Remember that. Drink driving is illegal because it's bloody dangerous. I just hope you don't do something equally as stupid and not tell your parents or work and carry on driving.

Sucks to be you. Your own fault. Going to be fun trying to find a job when you have to put a drink driving conviction down on your application form.

Good Luck.

You'll need it

I just got a bit sick of the bashing that was going on even though he'd seen the error of his ways.
Wrong, he was SHOWN the error of his ways. Big difference. Thankfully, the police caught him. Had he got away with it, there would have been a next time, and a next time...

This is like the GD section.

Hes absolutely inevitably going to get a suitable punishment anyway but lets all jump on the bandwagon and talk loads of crap :p

I got done for DD, did it once, got caught, worst thing I've ever done, I'm not at all proud of it, if fact I'm very embarrassed and would never ever do it again. I was young and stupid and paid the price with a hefty fine, 2 year ban and had to have a medical at the end before they would consider giving me my licence back.

What’s also bad about it is telling people years later, makes me feel deeply ashamed and turns my stomach.

I know from experience, you won't get any sympathy from anyone and you never will, don't even look for it, it’s something you got to live with, no ways about it. If I could turn the clock back, for anything, it would be that and that alone. But I can't.

It actually stays on the licence for 12 years, mine came off this year, in March. Just in-time for me to start a new job with a company car.

I still have the "up in courts" I cut out the paper, god knows why but when I read it, I feel like the smallest person in the world.

Take it on the chin, from what you said, it could be worse. There could be someone in hospital, 6ft under or you might not be around to have started this thread.

Life's a bitch, perhaps in future would will listen to you own advice. You already doubted driving when you asked the bar staff their thoughts.

btw

I suggest you see a solicitor for legal advice/representation and CAB as time means £ with the solicitor for silly questions so see CAB 1st.

Get someone to do a character statment. I had the managing director at my place of work at the time. So get someone of simular status, not sure your boss in this situation will help though.

This is light. Think what his colleagues/family/friends will say.
