Scummy pipe stink hell!

ok...in our kitchen we have a washing machine whos waste pipe feeds into a plastic pipe which runs along the wall behind the fitted kitchen cupboards round to the sink and outside to the drain.

Now this pipe absolutely hums!!! All of a sudden it has started kicking out a right pong! Like literally horrifically bad stench!! Like you'd imagine the stench in Labyrinth to smell like.

I don't know why and tbh I don't care, I just want rid. Removing the pipe is not an option as we don't own the house.

So... is there something I can pour down a PLASTIC pipe that may help relieve us of our stinky kitchen filth.

Any other bright ideas welcomed.

p.s. I'm in the living room and I'm convinced I can still smell it!! Please tell me this stench is not eternal!!

p.p.s. the pipe is not blocked, you can see the end of the pipe with water gushing out when the washing machine empties.
 
You have a slight smell, the fumes given off from 18 month old water standing behind a water trap with old washing machine waste stinks! Never smelt anything like it, urgh.

Just to check do you have a U-bend on the pipe? If not then the problem is here to stay without a water trap as it will be fumes coming back up from the drain. ah, re-reading your post it will be standing water etc in your old pipe.

washing machines are the worst, especially if you use powdered detergants...they leave a mass load of black cilt behind which absoloutly stinks!!! + if you have a gf/mrs who often lets vegetable peelings and other things go down the sink it certainly wont help.

I ended up pouring 6 litres of lye down the pipe and blocking the end off. Left it for a few minutes and it ate through the duck tape I'd used to block the end off.

Touch wood I can't smell it now.

grr it drives me mad. yeah, fair play, she's washed, hoovered, cooked and washed up, but do a job properly ***. clean the sink out.
