This makes the absolute mad dash for 30 series cards quite inexplicable.
Not really if you have been on this forum long enough you will realise it happens every GPU release and has done for years and years regardless of whether there is a game or not that needs the card update. Everyone wants the new shiny, precious.
The demand for the 9xx series was probably the last time there was such clamouring and furore. Not as bad as now but there were quite a few 980's/980ti's that took months to appear. The infamous EVGA releases of the 9xx series were notorious for this anyone who remembers it.
The 1xxx series not quite as bad as it delivered at a "good" price but then the 2xxx series was a bit of a damp squid with the price over performance and the insane 2080ti price until the Supers hit.
The 3xxx series was hotly anticipated for the most recent gain in performance and featuresover price ratio and the hype train was on overload.
Its not just for ray tracing etc plenty of people on here chase FPS expecially minimums at higher resolutions.
