Security guards - bad experience

I went to a bar the other day and we and my wife got put into separate basement by two security guards

we were left in this basement for hours and they would not even tell me why I was there or my wife

i called 999 a few times during it as I was that worried and thought I was getting set up. I asked to go to the toilet and they wouldn’t let me and said I’ll need to just go in front of them if that’s what it takes. I asked for a glass of water and they laughed when it arrived like they done something to it and because I’m clostaphobic I asked to be moved to another room and they refused and I had a really bad panic attack and could barly brethe and they just watched and left me to it

I asked how long can u keep me here and he said indefinitely, they enjoyed seeing how worried I was getting

They used quite a force to get me in this basement and acted cocky and dancing to the music from the bar they heard while in this basement

when the police arrived they said my wife mentioned a code Angela even though she was sat next to me the whole night and didn’t even no what this phrase was. The police allowed us to both go as soon as they finally arrived

Is there anything I can do about this as it was an awful experience and we both were locked up for hours in a basement. The venue won’t even register a complaint and told me to go to the police

My wife who was in a separate basement was in a right state to and had no idea why she was been kept inside. She didn’t even know this Angela was a thing and even if she did say that which she didn’t, why was she locked in one too

There was other guys there and the only thing I can think of is one of them said this phrase to try and get me out the picture and battle into my wife, not knowing we both were getting taking away. Ether that or the people in there didn’t like us. I just can’t work it out

Is this normal procedure if this phrase is said

no, what we find funny is people making things up and expecting us to believe it. where was this 'bar' you were accosted in? if you really had been held against your will in a basement for no reason the police would have been very very interested in that once they arrived on site. that you've said they just sent you on your way when they arrived suggests you're not furnishing us with all the details.

Well the fact u think this is made up when it’s not makes me want to take action even more

The police told me they can keep us there is they bouncers believe there has been a issue that requires the police

What I can’t understand is why my wife was held to in a basement. Even if she did report it which she didn’t why was she held and not aloud to go when she’s the one that so called reported a issue

The officers are calling me back on Monday but only come on here to get any advice as unfortunately this did happen in Wunder bar Glasgow city centre. If you look up the reviews on the place it’s full of issues with the bouncers too

why does me not believing you make you want to take action even more?

and yet when the police arrived there was no issue that required you to be kept in a basement.

stop making stuff up and you'll not have such a hard time when you're out and about. i'd also suggest maybe taking a break from alcohol. it obviously doesn't agree with you.
It makes me want to take action even more because based on the replies on here and people not believing me it clearly should never have happened and ****** me of it did

I have better stuff to do with my time than make things up

All I can think is someone set us up in the club as my wife never said this Angela phase at all and she can’t understand while she was locked in there too

We were both in there over two hours and any time I asked the bouncers why I was in there they replied we don’t need to tell you and we are still doing checks

They were complete arse holes, wouldn’t let me go to the toilet, heavy handed and trying to be cocky and wind me up

When the police arrived they said they can do that while they are doing checks but agreed we done nothing wrong and both left together

I don’t no why this is so hard to believe. The bouncers did tell me there was cctv in both basements

The strange thing is since the minute I got In the bar my wife was sat next to me the whole night so she didn’t even go up anywhere. It was a group table with another people on, mybe it was someone else on the table

The problem is the police don’t really always basement the other time because there not going to all over the floor when bouncers keep you their. Good luck though
The officers on the job are calling me back tomorrow

The bouncers just kept saying we are doing checks when I asked to go. I called 999 when I was in there a few times and they finally got there just over two hours later and said Angela was reported but my wife hadn’t even heard of this until now

Thanks I’ll let u no what they say, just doesn’t seem right

So the police aren’t long of the phone to me and I have a better understanding to it slightly

Basically my wife never mentioned any Angela code they said it was two people in the club that brought a domestic issue to the staffs attention

As I said before we were on a shared table with other people and they must have taken a disliking to me or thought get rid of me to try and batter into my wife, not knowing she would be put in a basement room too. I can’t think of any other reason they would do this as me and my wife were having a great night up to this point.

The police said that the bouncers are able to withhold us in a room until the police arrive and it was just unfortunate the police took a while to arrive as they were very busy that night.

The police said the bouncers should probably have dealt with it better, considering I had a panic attack due to me being claustrophobic, not allowing me to go to the toilet, dancing to music when they seen I was distressed, making it look like they done something to the water they gave me etc.

They said I can’t take it any further through the police and my only options is to complain to the club, which I already done and they said going to the police only for any issues about it or go to the company the bouncers are from, mybe SIA and report them.

I asked the club and the police for a subject access request of the cctv in the basement but was denied it from both the club and the police, as I would have liked to shown the council who issues the license they way they acted with me

Looks like I’m at a dead end and can’t do much else which does angers me but it was worth a try. I’m still amazed they can get away with treating customers like this who have done absolutely nothing wrong.

the police wouldn't have dismissed the 'fact' you were locked in a basement for over 2hrs so stop lying.
Are you saying the police are wrong then and I should put a complaint in about the police

The police told me that they have the right to hold someone until the police have been called if the club believe police are needed and there saying they had two people come forward and were concerned about a domestic issue

Are the saying the police aren’t telling me the right information?

The apologised for being so long but said they were at a higher up case before mine

It’s Scotland, we’ll batter anything.

Not sure on the legality of effectively putting someone under citizens arrest without reasonable grounds that they were committing a serious enough offence for that to be legitimate.
Well there arguing it was two people in the club that brought it to the clubs attention there was a domestic issue. Even though me and my wife told them everything was fine and was clearly a set up

I’ll mybe give Citzeens advice a call tomorrow
