Self defence

Er, why would you spend the night in cells if you were charging them with assault? If there was clearly one guilty party, as you are saying, then that wouldnt happen at all. If you were being a ****ed up self righteous knob, which you probably were by the sounds of it, then I could understan it happening.

I love it when people describe drunken arguments. They were always being so very reasonable.
Well cells might not have been the case am not sure but I would have ended up at the station all night maybe that what the officer was saying. Am not a lawyer or a carrier criminal so I don’t know the workings of the police or the legal system.
Also the police arrived after the incident started thus didn’t see the start of the altercation.
And that’s amazing that you somehow know based on a few posts how I would react to the police in that situation.......
In fact I had no problem with the police as they were just doing their job, my problem is with the current system they are using.
i doubt pills were involved in this as they make you want to love everyone and be friends with people. More likely a mixture of cocaine and alcohol
What i was told weather it was true or not is a different matter
Why is it that all these fighting threads start with this?
Because that’s why most people go out & not to get into a fight.

When I go out if I see anyone that looks rough or that I think could be bad news and looking for fights I try stay clear from them or if I'm having to walk past just ignore them if anything is said to me and don't look at them at all.

ive stopped going out up town much now due to all the agro you get up there, a lot of hot heads walking about thinking there it, then add booze and theres trouble where ever you turn.

always when ive been in a situation up town which includes fights etc id always let them make the first move, obviously try reasoning with them and everything before hand, but id wait until they make a move.

it really spoils going out clubbing etc, used to love it, but its a waste of time now.

I didnt mean you would have any problem with them. You would be one of those drunken guys who think theyre being all correct and properly behaved, talking to the police like theyre "on the same page". Commonly known as a tit.

so your just insulting a person, you have or most likly ever will meet twice for what reason?

Sounds like the guy is just showing off to the group.

“you staring at my sister your making her feel unconformable”

This is the feeler question to determine if you are
a)crazy mofo (not ideal target)
or
b)weak willed (ideal target)

This is just my opinion on how violence of this kind occurs. Could be wrong.

I have to say I wouldn't have hit him but more restrained him. The bouncers are there for a reason and if they see the aggressor physically abusing someone else that's their[/] job to do.

At the point of him hitting you in the back I would have floored him. not physically hit hi but made sure there were plenty of witnesses see you fall over and knock him onto the floor "by accident" and leg it... I'm guessing the entire thing would have been on CCTV so any court would have tried in your favour. You can then request that the information that you assaulted the other person be levied and changed to self defence...

Oh, and after 7 years they have to legally get rid of the case file of any case without a verdict or found not guilty, nine times out of ten they won't but it's worth mentioning that they can't use the past accusation against you.

Can you tell I'm read up on this? :p

there will be cctv outside the place most likely, ask to check the surveilance which is your rights, this should proof your innocents.

tbh i think you did the right thing, if you weren't confident enough to stand up for yourself theres a better chance you'd be on the floor getting a kicking.

Other people obviously will handle it differently some would be just like your mate, others would probably just turn around and attack them.

Good one either way you are OK you've done the right thing...

I'm a martial arts instructor so I have to be quite careful with how I deal with this type of situation as I need to maintain a clean criminal record in order to pass my CRB check to be allowed to teach kids.

I'd never throw the first punch in situation where somebody was mouthing off, the clubs I go to also have very good security staff with lots of CCTV so fights are quickly spotted and dealt with. If you can stall them for enough time then usually the security will come and sort them out without any violence occuring.

A lot of people have said there's no point in reasoning with drunk people as they won't listen - I'd say that's partly true, but there are also the louts who are susceptible to a calm word to diffuse the situation. That is always my first port of call in any argument / start of a fight, very simply and very directly tell them that you're not here to fight and lets just get on with our night out.

However if I did think that somebody was going to really try to do me some damage then the moment they began to get physical I'd try to end the fight there and then as quickly as possible before it even started - the key thing being to only react AFTER they've shown the first sign of getting physical and to stop as soon as they aren't a direct threat (i.e. when they're out of your personal space). That way if CCTV tapes are reviewed you're quite within your rights to say that you tried to talk your way out of the situation but when they became physically aggressive towards you and you feared for your personal safety so did what you had to to prevent them from getting more violent and you didn't carry on with your attack with the intention of causing them physical harm.

All of that said, I can't remember the last time I was directly involved in a fight on a night out - I'm the one who always ends up breaking them up or diffusing them for my less controlled drunken friends!

In a mugging however I'd go in as hard and aggressive as possible and answer for my actions later. But that's another story.

This..

All you have to do is go back inside the club and have a word with the bouncers, its as easy as that, tell them to keep an eye on the people whos annoying and they will sort them out. Even just ask for the manager and speak with him if hes around.

Jesus OP, the whole situation of that night would have been sorted out if you just asked them.

The wonders of alcohol and popular society. A meaningless waste of resources. I hope that somewhere along the line, soon, that people actually wake the **** up and realise getting wasted all the time makes you an example of moronic behaviour.

Something does need to happen to alcohol, maybe removing advertisements for it, stricter ID controls, better parenting (I can't tell you how many people I know of or have heard of that got their alcohol from their parents) because it is a very dangerous and very corruptive influence on our society.

Idiots go on about how drugs like Marijuana are evil and bad and should stay illegal forever, where has nowhere near the same massive negative impact that alcohol has on people.

if he was pilled up this gets me thinking of the Political drugs thread in SC i was involved in... yes what lovely "fun" drugs pills must be...
