Self Defense ?

I watched a season of it recently. In memory it's blunt crap comedy, but actually watching it I find it's much better than I imagined. The couple of series at least are extremely well done. But you weren't in it then :P
 
It all depends on what can be proven. He could have come at you with a knife and you break his arm but if they cant find the knife and there are no witnesses then its your word against theirs and hes the one with the injury. Same situation and theres witnesses and the weapon is recovered and its an entirely different possible outcome.
 
set me correct if you wish, but is it correct that in a position of threat against yourself, family or property you can strike first??

I train in JuiJitsu and one of our 3rd dans is ex police...so is this still the case??

Yes, as far as I'm aware you can strike first if you fear for your or another persons safety.

You can pre-emptively strike if you perceive such a threat but it clearly has to be proportionate.
