Sensible Soccer

Nothings wrong with it, it's a brilliant football game, but having now played it I just think AGAIN old classics should remain in the past.

O well.

whats wrong with it

is the new HD mode poor?

as long as the classic mode is still 'sensi'

controls?

manager mode? -- fake names, but are they recognisable?

It's exactly the same game. The HD graphics are great but you switch to the original if you wish (the original graphics are in 4:3 ratio however and won't fill the screen if you are using a widescreen, HDTV or PC monitor). The names are fake but you can recognise them. W.B.A. are Bromwich for example.

are the players names real like?

looked to download this before i got into work this morning but it wasnt about, wanting to play it :)

I know what you're saying but I think this has aged really well. I have played the Amiga original recently (so I'm not comparing it to a cherished memory) and it's exactly the same aside from the HD graphics. All I need now is a good joystick and Kick-Off 2 and that's me satisfied for football games for a long while. I'd rather play this than PES 2008 or FIFA 08.

The player names are not real. You could say they are clumsy spellings. You'll recognise who they are they are but don't forget they are from 96/97 not 07/08.

yeah I knew that it was 96/97 data. Cheers for answering my question. Another one though....is there an edit mode?

Gutted team names aren't genuine, would have been chuffed with simply SWOS form back in the day, complete with teams and player names :(

Have they tried to update player names to the current day, or what?

No I think the names are back in the 90's, Shearer is still in Newcastle.

Totally agree with you, it was only about 2 months ago I was playing it at a retro party and was having a ball, but the day was filled with playing stuff like Sensible Soccer, Kick Off 2, SuperFrog, etc and the day blended together brilliantly. But on it's own, with no one but myself, it just doesn't work like it did 13 years ago.

The Live bug it has is a bit annoying.. not sure how they are going to release a patch to fix it if you get logged out as soon as you run it :)

It's difficult getting used to one button doing everything after years of FIFA and PES with their millions of control combinations.

screwed over a bit tbh - but then again, editing all those teams using a control pad would have killed me :D

man im itching to play this baby

I always thought the team names were correct in SWOS, could be wrong. But if they used to be, it would have been nice to be the same as the original.

Who's going to be first to boot their old copy to check?
