Seriously ****** off - been threatened with the police by college.

Just to point out that if you had done your work on time and been a better student this would never have happened ;)

But then again maybe its for the best, funny how things go around...

But its one hour after the first drink, not from the last one consumed.

Just for the record, it's the other way round. The effects of alcohol are cumulative. If you were on an all-day bender then I could concede that some of the alcohol might have been processed, but in the space of a few hours it won't make much difference.

That said though, the only true way to know if you were over the limit would be to take a test. This sort of thing is far too variable from person to person to know with any accuracy otherwise.

Just to stick my nose into the discussion, all I can say is that if that were me I'd be fully confident that I was either completely sober, or not far from it (therefore under the limit by far) by the time I'd have to start work (8:30). But then I'd also have a wash and brush my teeth so I wouldn't smell :p

I do wish people would get off the band wagon, drunk driving is bad, drink driving is a grey area you have all been brain washed into equating with drunk driving.

I'd rather be driving behind someone who had a skinful the night before but a good nights sleep than someone who stayed up all night but was tee total.

Why not get on the case of the truck drivers breaking the law by driving all day and all night? They cause massive pile ups on motorways killing scores of people.

Why not? Because the government and the media haven't told you to yet.

Must say i agree to an extent, i still abhore drink driving, but that is no better. Was reading the news a while ago and remember some research that had been done that basically showed that driving either on no sleep or very quickly after waking up has just as bad a effect on your reaction times as driving while over the limit.

The only thing i would say is that you know when your tired , and if i'm driving while a little tired i take extra care while driving a lot of people who drink a fair amount and drive do not do this, they drive as if they are fine.

When i used to drink and drive (not like that, just i gave up drinking) i would never have more than 1 pint when driving, and only then if i was going to be out for a long time, so if i went out i'd get there have a pint and then drink coke for the next 3-4 hours. The biggest thing i noticed from stopping is the effect even one drink has on you, even if i only drink a pint or two the night before i woul wake up noticably feeling worse the next day than i would having drunk nothing.

just sounds like some jumped up lecturer to me, possibly recently just left a school teaching job.

its the other stuff that goes with it, pure Alcohol is odorless i assure you :)
Reckon it's not (having worked with gallons of bonded ethanol one summer job, it tastes foul too!)

*hugs the OP*

*touches him, cos he's too drunk to notice*

Serirousry though - The majority of drunk drivers are nailed the day after a booze up.

The general rule of "If you drink, don't drive" should be extended to include the next morning at the very least.

Your teacher could call the Ayatollah Khomeini if she liked - It's not like he could secure a conviction.

If you feel aggrieved by her actions - you'll get over it - You're a big boy now.

Tell her to call the cops, if you are confident you are in the right then you'll pass a breath test and she'll shut up.
The best response to this problem was one of the first reply's, you could also ask her to apologise if she is found to be in the wrong.

But yea, shower and what not before going to college is allways a must, i mean come on... also, try and put that little bit of extra effort into getting work in on time for her so she hasnt got anything else to come at you with, this is the only way youll come off better in this case imo.

Next time tell her to put her allegations in writing. If she is not prepared to do that then suggest she keeps her mouth firmly shut.

If someone accuses you of breaking the law when you have not, you must stick up for yourself.

Yup, I'm going with this man's suggestion :D

Edit the opening post to say you were speeding, post it in motors and everyone will rally to your defence......;)

You were borderline dude. From my experiences a borderline 'hangover' case wouldn't really stink of alcohol, assuming they follow basic daily hygiene routines. I wouldn't be able to determine if they were still over the limit, I imagine most others would be the same. Simple solution - if you believe that you would pass a breathalyser test then don't take any crap from her. If you're unsure, be more careful in future and ensure she has nothing more to complain about......apart from late assignments:p

look, there's a lot of do gooders going over the top here but at the same time, never drink and drive.

9 hrs is a reasonable time but you probably were a bit iffy, just be more careful.

I was expecting you to say you drove straight after leaving the club.

In th good old days, people used to have eight pints and then drive home regularly. In a way its good news that you lot are all shocked.

Secondly your tutor is not your mum, she's just on a power trip, but hey you might need her help and support so keep her on your side, this might be going too far but hey if you really want to take the psss go and apoligise to her and say gee i realise how bat i was, she'll be your best friend after that.

then just get on with your work etc, just remember, a few years after college you wont remember who she is but you'll still have what ever qualification you get and that will earn you money.

;)

drink driving means less skill on the roads.

actually thats not always the case.
i have seen 2 people who would drink a lot then drive home from a pub. both of them better drivers, more alert, better parking skills than when sober!
