Settle a dispute?

Since forever? as I understood maths?

The computer understands it the way I do, if you type it into chatGPT as is. As I said, a computer only does what it is being told....with the information presented, the answer is 430.

You swap, because you increase your probability from 1/3rd to 1/2 now.

When you first picked a cup, it was 1/3rd.

But if you pick again, it is now 50/50. If you stick with the original decision, you stick with the original probability.

This is incorrect.

Original odds were 1/3.

As a cup with no gold in was removed you have to recalculate the original odds since hes told a cup with no gold in was removed.

The chance he picked the correct one was ion fact 1/2 and is now still 1/2.

You cannot have odds less than 100/100.

whilst on this silly maths argument, i hope it isnt derailing but i dont want to start a thread on another silly maths argument.

but apparently....

if there are 3 cups, one is full of gold and i have to pick one.... there is a 1 in 3 chance i get the gold.

i choose a cup.

then someone comes and removes one of the other cups and says, that cup did not have the gold, thus leaving 2 cups.

i am then given the choice, do i want to keep your cup or swap with the one on the table still.

I am told, with absolute certainty that mathematically i should swap cups to have the best chance of winning.. however i cannot get the reasoning why straight in my head.
Yeah it's counter intuitive but true, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem

The key in my mind is, somebody is removing a cup knowing it does not have the gold, not randomly removing another cup. So they are changing the game... Which helps my brain accept the maths behind it which is already proven.

It would be quick and easy to put a computer program together to simulate this. Maybe later!!

It's not a maths question. It's a grammar question. The question isn't "solve the sum", any idiot can do that; it's "what does this ambiguous bit of poorly phrased English mean".
I have a question. A sensible question. A question that will test the limits of your new IQ and stretch the sinews of your knowledge to bursting point!

The question is this: given that God is infinite, and that the Universe is also infinite...would you like a toasted teacake?

Sounds like idiot yoots who don't understand the concept of language having any meaning. It literally makes me explode!

Joking aside, people are idiots and use things like "can you borrow me that pen". Americans also cannot be trusted. "It happened on accident". **** off! Its by accident you uneducated swine!

its all about word play. Its like if I say I have 2 coins in my pocket, totalling 30p but one of them isn't a 20p piece.

When you say it, a majority of the people will process it differently than what it really is saying.
