Sexism at the Olympics

I kinda feel sorry for John Inverdale (only very slightly) being shot down by Murray and all the feminists jumping on the bandwagon.

His mistake wasn't sexist, it was missing out a word, win two Olympic "Singles" golds for tennis, given that most non-tennis people don't give a **** about doubles it's not a really surprising error.

The Williams sisters don't need Murray white knighting them, they are better than him. :D

And if he was correcting correctly, it's John Pius Boland who got he first 2 gold Olympic medals in Tennis in 1896 if you counting doubles and singles.

All of them are complete rubbish apart from the last one, i get the last one.

"What an incredible man, Usain Bolt wins the 100 & 200 metres again"

"What an incredible boy, Usain Bolt wins the 100 & 200 metres again"

It's just weird...

To me "girl" is the equivalent of "guy".

I see nothing wrong with girl.

The real problem I see often, even within this forum, is the positive connotation that is often associated with being a "man".

Yea, i'm probably wrong to be fair, i'm just going off my own personal experience of someone calling me boy all the time who was younger than me, he could never be wrong, always challenging me, he was ******* annoying, a complete div, it didn't end well :D

Although, it's true about black people hating the phrase "boy", all the masters used to say that when slavery was legal. That Mohammed Ali interview with that Aussie guy, Ali went mental at him for saying boy.

Calling someone of the opposite gender a girl or boy is a compliment of youth/term of endearment.

So male calls a female girl, female calls a male boy all OK. (If you not a dill)
We also call old people a "old boy" or "old girl" as a term of endearment/friendship, sex doesn't count with this.

Females can also get away with calling other females girl, due to the way females relationships work.

Men are a tad more complicated as we are emotionally crippled. :D Boy works with other males you have a mutual friendship/acquaintance with, but not in general with other adult men that have no relationship with, unless the boy in question isn't an adult. (Plus the US Slave usage of the word)
