If only there was some context available, like the fact Nordstream 2 was about to come on-stream and really just needed sign off.

Then after this video, and Russia attacked Ukraine The US had gotten an agreement that it wouldn't be signed off for use by the EU and therefore, was "shutdown".

I'm not particularly invested in the idea that it was conducted by the US but it seems to have been a long term goal as outlined by Condaleezza Rice. It's strategically advantageous for them, they have the means, the incentive and have said they plan on doing so.

What exactly is the evidence it was carried out by Russia and for what purpose would this have been? I'm open to being persuaded but it seems a little open and shut.

The point is that there is no evidence to say who did it yet just wild speculation.

Russian surface vessels and submarines were recorded in the area in the run up to the events. However, likely that western ships were too. Until there is hard evidence published, not he said/she said, not speculation, not a nut job on a Youtube video it will never be "open and shut", just a large question mark.
