The question I have about this is if there is good replayability. I guess the main story is over quickly, so what is there to do after story?

Is there hardcore mode? Nightmare/hell like Diablo?
Random bosses?

Want to get it but I've spent quite a bit already this month on gears of war. Really don't think this is a £30 title. Played the first but not sure if SW2 will be £30 good.

Just a heads-up - I see the options list 'Multi Res Shading' for Nvidia users - this is something that you want OFF if you want the best image quality. It is an option that reduces the fidelity of the outer areas of the image in order to improve performance. Basically a way of reducing resolution to gain framerate, but still leaves the center of your FoV untouched since that's where you look most often.

Impressive to see it as an option at all, though. It was initially built for VR apps and hasn't seen a ton of use even there so far.

I loved the 2013 game but early reviews (which have since been taken down due to breaking the NDA) are not kind most mention its just not fun to play due to bullet sponge enemies which take ages to dispatch. This probably explains the lack of PR so close to release & low launch price.

The forced co-op mode as well seems a little tacked on at the last minute. I hope I am wrong but not pre-ordering or buying until I can see real players telling me it is fun after all and early reviews are wrong!

Seems sensible to wait and see what you are buying before buying then in this instance.

Will be doing the same, the last game was pretty cool.

The co-op sounds like it will be worth the price alone, offering a sort of Diabloesque loot based grind in procedurally generated levels. You can build your character how you want, melee ranged or both.

There's plenty of PC videos showing the gameplay, with mobs being despatched with ease whilst others taking a lot more time to take down. It's fast and fluid and looks as mad as the first game - 10-15 hours for single player campaign and then however long for Co-op shenanigans.

Yeah I loved the last game so was very disappointed to read the negative reviews on this but some of it makes sense that they added the co-op reduced the dev time & produced an overall lesser gameplay experience which gives the lower RRP as the publisher expects lower sales.

Already bought. Flying Wild Hog is the best First Person studio working today.

I mean, just look at the statement on their website:

Philosophy

We do not believe in corporate management and corporate ways. Our studio is managed without producers and we try to employ as many anti-corporate management ideas as possible. Such a flexible structure allows us to limit all the obsolete bureaucracy and hierarchy to minimum.
We do not believe in managers or leads who themselves don’t create real content of a game. People who are responsible for management in our studio also work as programmers, artists or designers.
We do believe that people who are given freedom, both for their ideas and use of their skills, work better and more effective.
We don’t complicate things that are simple.
We are the Hogs!

First game was amazing, I did not expect such a great game. Such surprisingly good story, like a classic buddy movie.
I expect great things tomorrow, can't wait.

I know fans of the first game might not be as happy about the changes with SW2, but I'm actually the opposite - wasn't very interested in the first one, but am totally onboard with turning this into a 1st person melee/shooter loot style game. I loved Borderlands and would like to see more mashups of genres with loot-style progression systems.

We'll have to see about the procedural environments, though. I'm not inherently anti-procedural, but it's not easy to do right and keep the game feeling fresh. Then again, if we're talking loot-game influences, Diablo 2 did a great job with this kind of thing.

I completed the first game yesterday. I thought it was ok, good but confusing story. Combat was good but feedback with some weapons and the hud bob was annoying.

The level design wasnt that great though. That's why I'm excited for Shadow Warrior 2, random level creation is usually always at least a bit interesting. It cant be worse than the levels in Shadow Warrior 1. The weapons and upgrades looks great as well and it seems they've made it easier to use the abilities so I've preordered it'll be a fun distraction till BF1.
