The second drive is still chuntering along at 111MB/S so a couple of MB/S quicker than the first drive was at this point.

Second drive has very similar results as the first one - no errors but the same warning. Speed at the end was 111MB/S so slightly faster than the first drive. Tried googling the warning but haven't got anywhere so far, will try the user guide for IDTD when I've woken up a bit more....

Apart from that warning on both drives, all the tests I've run have passed, including on the robot side. Think I might have a play with it and VEEAM next :)

Oh sorry :)

Excuse the cabling, I had to remove some of the cable management to get a 4U lump in!

Hmm, trying to use it for some FC learning - at present I'm trying to get it to talk to a VM through Hyper-V server. But installing the drivers on the host is proving difficult. It just says this version of windows not supported :(

Can you not hack some of the INF files and add the entry for your OS?

I've done it before with some Intel Network Drivers which were apparently not supported on a Server OS.

There's a thread somewhere......

Here;
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18680717

If you look at my last post you might be able to get the gist of what I've done and modify your driver files....I don't take any responsibility if it breaks :cool:

Hmm, not convinced it's going to be similar - from what I can see you were trying to install to an OS that wasn't supported, whereas I am trying to install to a variant of an OS that IS supported - 6.3 (2012 R2) is in the INF, but it's hyper-v server specifically that is being picked up on:

Code:
ERR: Installer.cpp(400) : GetWindowsVersion-> This version of Windows is not sup
ported: Hyper-V Server 2012 R2.
EXT: Installer.cpp(408) : GetWindowsVersion-> Returning: 0
ERR: DllMain.cpp(292) : ProcessInstallError-> Current Windows version is not sup
ported

I'm guessing the version number of Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 is different to Server 2012 R2? If so, can you not add the version number to the accepted list of OS's?

Edit:

Hmmmmmm, if you type the ver command in command prompt, does it come up with 6.3 by any chance?

Yup - 9.3.9600 - exactly the same as "regular" 2012 R2. This is the registery for both:

Think I've cracked it - not an advised way to do it, but I changed each registry difference to match the standard install and back again, trying the install each time. Changing installation type from "Server Core" to "Server" did the job. Which I then also changed back.

Tomorrow I'll see if I can access the unit.

Struggling now - teh VM refuses to start now I've given it a virtual FC thingy.

The error number doesn't reveal much. "The operation failed with error code 32788"

Still struggling, haven't made any progress - I think it's an NPIV issue but can't find any info.

Meanwhile I put in a ridiculously low offer on an LTO-5 SAS drive and it was accepted :o So assuming that works I'll sell the FC drives on their own.

I've picked up a cheap FC switch to try that. But do you think I can find a serial cable to get into it? I bemoan paying £2 for a cable more than having to buy the switch as I know I have a cable somewhere!

The LTO-5 drive has also arrived. It's connected up and I'm running a health test which it has just passed. Running a full write test now, but I only have LTO-4 tapes so not a fair test? Sitting at 111MB/s at present.

edit: up to 113 and staying put.
