so there I was sat at work today, and I thought "I want to listen to some emo". Lo and behold, I don't have anything that fit the bill. I have Deja Entendu by Brand New, I have P!ATD's album, I have Seven Ways to Scream Your Name by FFAF, but none of them were doing it for me :(

The best way to describe what I want to listen to is stuff like "This Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You" by MCR, "The Kill" by 30 Seconds to Mars, "The Quiet Things That No-one ever knows" by Brand New - that sort of thing. I'm sure some of you lot are closet emo fans so give me your best shot.

Also, Mohinder and all you other lot - I don't want to be schooled on "proper" emo - I want lovely, wrist-slitting post hardcore!

I have, and I didn't like them. Listened to those 2 bands, Zebede, but they're not what I was after. Thanks for the links though, couple of those songs weren't bad

The new Atreyu album is a lot less metal more emo than they used to be (:(), might be worth a try.

Particularly, 'Honor' and 'Falling Down'.

Edit: Got me listening to them again now, they are a truly underrated band imo, basically a better version of Avenged Sevenfold imo!

If you want post-hardcore, I sort of recommend Alexisonfire I get.

BOYSETSFIRE are great. Seriously. Not quite "emo" not quite "post-hardcore" not quite hardcore, a mixture of all. They're disbanded now, but get After the Eulogy and enjoy.

EDIT: As for FFAF. They're first EP, Between Order and Model was great. Four Ways to Scream Your name is excellent. Seven Ways is an amalgamation of the two, minus two songs that were re-recorded for the album. I actually rate half of Hours as better than the first album, but not a patch on the first two EPs. I think the new one is totally rotten. The new one actually gives Matts voice a more natrual feel, and as a result truly displays how thin and toneless he actually is (well, it's probably toneless due to pro-tools, but it's still woefully thin).

I say this because I used to love FFAF on their first EP (yes, I'm talking first ever tour with BSF here, wayyyy back when /scenepoints lolz ) and their 2nd. But my relationship is more sort of "meh" to hate with them now. If there is one band who never fulfilled their potential, it's these guys.

I got a Bullet for My Valentine promo in my post the other day.

I think I have gayds now.

Hell is For Heroes - The Neon Handshake

The one album you need to fulfil all your slightly emo post-hardcore needs. Also, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge by MCR is good.
