Shamima Begum: Runaway IS bride to find out if she can return to UK

Could have saved all that money by simply doing the right thing and giving her back her passport.
As much as I hate the thought of her coming back, reluctantly I agree she should be our problem and is a British citizen. We should have let her back and then tried her for treason or whatever terrorist offence was appropriate.

but they haven't tried any of the 400+ ISIS Fighters who have come back.
It's ridiculous how people are more bothered by a groomed 15 year old girl than men who carried guns against us.
No I would like them tried too. But this thread is about her so I commented about her.

I doubt these people will ever be able to stand trial because there just isn’t the evidence to properly convict them in a British court because their crimes happened in another country and a lot of the information was based on intelligence. Any citizen that was fighting or went to join ISIS should have been systematically targeted with air strikes of boots on the ground, revoking their passport is the next least worse option I suppose.

Isn't joining a terror organisation like ISIS itself breaking numerous laws?

We're on about the 400+ men who came back to Britain after fighting for ISIS.
I personally don't give a toss about a groomed 15 year old who went out to have babies and cook food.

We could send them back - Syria just need to apply for extradition and the same thing applies - being a member of ISIS is a capital offence over there. Why they haven't yet tried Begum (and most of the people in the camp she is held in) I don't know....

Let's just remember, she was FIFTEEN when she was radicalised, she was a child.

Almost certainly the victim of rape and child marriage.

Multiple children all since died.

What evidence is there that she is still a risk to the country?

Maybe, just maybe a little compassion would be better placed than the frothing that is so prevalent.

I didn't consider myself a child at 15 and when I was in school most girls of that age claimed to be sexually active with boyfriends who were a year or 2 older. Do you think they were all children who were raped? I mean legally I suppose it maybe the case but I don't think ethically it is. And I think this girl was fully aware of what she was doing. I read an article a few years ago how both men and women partly joined ISIS so they could marry and have sex with who they wanted to. Often people from Islamic backgrounds have arranged marriages they don't want to be part of.

If she ever manages to get back, I hope she gets at least 25 years for treason.
Joking, With how backwards this country is now she will probably be given a free house upon arrival and compensation for "her" troubles eventually, As we all know she wont give up trying to get back.

I don't for one minute believe that she didn't know what she was doing.

At the time, everyone knew the monsters crimes ISIS were committing. I have sympathy for her poor kids that have died, but zero for her. FAFO.

As for taking her back... The crimes she committed were not here, so as far as I'm concerned, not our problem.

Legal definitions of child are pretty rigid regardless of anything else.
